After their weekend split with the Cubbies, the Philadelphia Phillies record sits at 56-88. This is not a good record. But, it is also not a historically bad record.
To wit: Should the Phillies finish the season on an epic 7-11 run, they will lose 99 games this torturous season. Another way to state this is the fact that THE PHILLIES MIGHT NOT LOSE 100 GAMES THIS YEAR!
With this in mind, I will closely monitor the rest of the season and provide frequent updates about where the Phillies Magic Number stands.
Today — Monday, Sept. 14 — that lucky number is 7 wins to stay in the double-digit-losses column.
