When we last checked in with our fearless warriors at Citizens Bank Park, the 56-88 Phillies needed to complete the season on a 7-11 run to not lose 100 games on the season.
Things did not go very well in subsequent days.
After last night’s win over Miami, their first after a six-game losing streak, the Fightins now must go 6-5 to end the season with double-digit losses. This is possible, because some dreams never die unless you allow them to. (And, heck, maybe they’ll cancel the meaningless Oct. 2 showdown with the Marlins because, really, why shouldn’t they?)
