Louden and I headed out to the Lancaster, Pa.-area on Good Friday to check out the Turkey Hill Experience (301 Linden Street; Columbia, PA 17512).

It was a lot of fun.

Ice-cream and iced-tea/lemonade samples till your heart’s content.

Faux cows to milk. Milk trucks on which to sit.

A slide. A ball pit.

A create-your-own flavor jawn. This is what we came up with (and the commercial we created to sell “Gooder Friday” to the public).

Highly recommended for a day trip from the Philly area. About an hour and a half each way; two hours on site is sufficient.

BUT, there IS a rub: They don’t sell ice cream there. Which is weird. Maybe weirder than Jack Daniels not being able to sell hooch at its distillery ‘causa the whole dry county nonsense. But whatever. The samples made up for all that. As did Louden seeing all the horses and cows and sheep and his first-ever horse-and-buggy on the street when heading home.
