5437. Albany, Ga. July 28. 17-year-old male injured when struck by a blue 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck which fled the scene.
5438-5443. San Francisco, Cal. July 28. Bicyclist, two pedestrians and three passengers injured when struck by a vehicle which fled the scene, but was later recovered.
5444. Washington, DC. July 29. Pedestrian injured when struck by a silver Toyota which fled the scene.
5445. Albertville, Ala. July 29. Man injured when struck by a white van which fled the scene.
5446. Levittown, NY. July 24. 80-year-old woman injured when struck by a silver car which fled the scene.
5447. Pharr, Texas. July 29. Man injured when struck by a grey mid-sized pickup truck which fled the scene.
5448. Seattle, Wash. July 31. Woman fatally struck by a trash truck which fled the scene.

5451. Los Angeles, Cal. July 30. 17-year-old male fatally struck by a black Cadillac Escalade which fled the scene.
5452. Philadelphia, Pa. Aug. 1. Man injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
5453-55. Buffalo, NY. July 31. Three pedestrians injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

It could be weeks, months or even a year before the man accused of killing a Youngsville cyclist in a hit-and-run in early July faces charges.
Louisiana State Police won’t finish their investigation into Fitzpatrick Doucette, 42, of Kaplan for another three to six weeks, said spokesman Master Trooper Brooks David. Once the investigation is complete, they’ll send their findings to the 15th Judicial District Attorney Mike Harson’s office, which could take up to six months or a year before it files any charges.

Two years after it happened, Jack O’Bryan, Linda’s husband says he got permission to put up a cross in his wife’s memory.
The cross stood there for two years, that is until someone stole it.
O’Bryan replaced his wife’s cross with a second one which stood untouched for six months.
The replaced cross is now missing, too.
“The removal of the cross hurts, yes. But what hurts more, if I let myself think about it too much, is, ‘What happened here?'” questioned O’Bryan who has since received a third cross to put up for his late wife.

A body shop owner who police say helped cover up the fatal hit-and-run of New Orleans Police officer Rodney Thomas pleaded guilty Friday (Aug. 1).
Bill Cager, the owner of the Mid-City body shop where authorities say the car used in the deadly crash was hidden, pleaded guilty as charged to all four counts he faced and received a 20-year suspended sentence and five years of probation.
Cager pleaded guilty to accessory to manslaughter, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice and conspiracy to commit accessory to manslaughter after the fact. He could have faced a maximum of 20 years on the accessory to manslaughter charges had he been convicted at trial.

PHILADELPHIA — State police are seeking information on a hit-and-run that claimed the life of a man from Germany in April outside Philadelphia International Airport.
In a press conference Friday, police appealed for the public’s assistance in finding who struck and killed Wilfred J. Fleischmann, 61, of Germany as he was walking along the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near the airport. Police said Fleischmann was walking toward Philadelphia near Exit 13 for the airport when he was struck around 9 p.m. April 4. The vehicle that hit Fleischmann fled in an unknown direction, police said. Police said after the initial accident, Fleischmann was run over by several other vehicles. He died from injuries suffered in the initial accident.

Detroit— A shortage of working streetlights, pedestrians walking in the street instead of using sidewalks and motorists texting while driving are largely responsible for a sharp increase in fatal and critical traffic accidents in Detroit, according to police.
Plans are in the works to add officers to the unit that investigates traffic-related deaths.

SUNSET HILLS, Mo. (AP) — The criminal investigation of a small-town Missouri mayor who a bicyclist alleges purposely struck him with his car has been turned over to an outside law enforcement agency.
