Walker resident Kevin Daniel Witte, 23, is charged with failure to stop at the scene of a serious personal-injury accident. He was formally charged Thursday.
Police say Witte was behind the wheel of a car that hit a four-year-old boy who slid into Richmond Street the evening of January 24. The car left the scene after the crash.

Marguerite Vuong, a 28-year postal employee, was driving to her 3 a.m. shift as a sorter when she struck 23-year-old David Pregerson, police said.
Pregerson, a budding film director, was the son of Dean D. Pregerson, a judge in the U.S. Central District and grandson of Harry Pregerson, who sits on the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

MIAMI (WSVN) — An Army reservist who was the victim of a hit-and-run last month was named a hero by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Friday morning.
The Miami-Dade Fire crew who initially responded to 22-year-old Richard Parson’s accident last month paid him a visit at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he continues to recover.
The hospital told Parsons, an aspiring firefighter, that he was being escorted to his first day of rehab. He was instead escorted into a room full of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials who surprised him.
It was there that Parsons was named an honorary firefighter and was awarded with patches and a certificate. “I am the President of the Fire Officers Association of Miami-Dade, and on behalf of all the fire chiefs, we’d like to first thank you for your service, and we make you an honorary firefighter.”

DEER PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A 57-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in a fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian in Deer Park, Long Island, police said.
Irene Caldarero, 57, of Deer Park, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. She struck a woman crossing Deer Park Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. Caldarero stopped briefly, but drove off before police arrived, authorities said. The victim has not been identified.
