6085. Indianapolis, Ind. Dec. 27. Man injured when struck by a dark colored, 2004 or 2005 Ford Ranger pickup which fled the scene.
6086. Greensboro, NC. Dec. 27. Pedestrian injured when struck by a small dark vehicle which fled the scene.
6087. St. Petersburg, Fla. Dec. 28. 24-year-old woman fatally struck by a BMW which fled the scene.
6088. Franklin Twp., NJ. Dec. 27. 28-year-old man on bicycle injured when struck by a vehicle which fled the scene; vehicle later found.

Moncure Lyon and other bystanders had stopped to help a badly injured cyclist on Roland Avenue on Saturday afternoon when a Subaru with heavy windshield damage drove by. Lyon wondered: Was this the car that had hit Thomas Palermo and left the scene?
There was only one way to find out. Lyon, 65, jumped on his Bianchi Steel Chromo bike and followed the vehicle as it drove away. He caught up with it at a stoplight and continued to follow as the car entered a nearby gated apartment community.
“I thought that car was involved in a potentially fatal hit-and-run of a biker, and I needed to get that license plate number,” Lyon said Monday.
The driver — since identified by the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland and her attorney as high-ranking bishop Heather Elizabeth Cook — would return to the scene. Palermo, 41 a married father of two young children, died of his injuries.
Cook has not been charged in connection with Saturday’s crash in North Baltimore, and Baltimore police said an investigation was in its early stages.
Court records show Cook, who has spent 20 years as an Episcopal priest, pleaded guilty in 2010 to driving under the influence of alcohol in Caroline County. Cook registered 0.27 percent on a blood-alcohol test — more than three times the legal limit in Maryland — after that incident.

Birmingham , AL – It will be months before a Homewood woman is able to get out of her wheelchair. Police still don’t know who is responsible for driving a car into her outside Workplay a few weeks ago. Craig Smalley says it’s going to be a long recovery. His wife, Paula, is on her 10th day in the hospital. She was leaving a concert at Workplay when a car hit her. Craig Smalley saw it and held his wife until paramedics were able to help.
“We just did not even see it coming, out of the corner of my eye, I just saw this violent impact as this car hit her,” saud Craig Smalley.

Mary Randall, 82, was Christmas shopping for her grandchildren at the businesses along Lyle Boulevard in McKeesport on Dec. 6.
She was in the crosswalk when the impact from a vehicle sent her onto the hood and over the roof of the car.
Police say 26-year-old Justin Warman was behind the wheel and didn’t stop. Investigators caught up with him five days later as Randall lay in the ICU, her leg amputated.
“My mom, being 82 years old, and to never have to spend a day in the hospital in her life, at this state, you know, it’s devastating,” said the victim’s son, Dave Singleton.
