7143. Reno, Nev. Sept. 6. 23-year-old woman critically injured when struck by a beige Chevy Malibu which fled the scene.

7145-46. Louisville, Ky. Sept. 6. One woman killed another injured when struck by a dark-colored car which fled the scene.

Police said the man kept driving, but later crashed into a ditch on State Highway 91 and Spur 503. He had a machete on him, but was taken into custody without incident and was taken to the hospital.

A Phoenixville man who fatally crashed his mother’s car into a pedestrian in Bridgeport in December before fleeing the scene pleaded guilty on Monday.

Christian Fuentes, 19, of the 2900 block of Doris Court, pleaded guilty to all charges against him which include accidents involving death or personal injury, tampering with evidence, failure to give information and render aid, failure to report an accident to police and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Fuentes faces a mandatory minimum sentence of three years in prison.

One month after a hit-and-run crash that left a Grand Isle man seriously injured, police arrested the driver they say was behind the wheel. Michael Quinn, 53, of Grand Isle, was taken into custody and booked Sept. 5 with First-degree vehicular negligent injuring, hit-and-run, simple criminal damage to property and reckless operation of a vehicle, arrest reports said.

He is accused of hitting a 60-year-old man and leaving the scene without calling for help, according to Lt. Irvin Magri Jr. with the Grand Isle Police Department. A couple walking their dog around 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 2 found the victim lying in a pool of blood in the yard of a home in the 100 block of Smith Lane in Grand Isle, Margi said.

Later, police located the suspect vehicle in the 1000 block of Apartment Lane in Forest Lake. After some questioning, they arrested Artevis Dewayen Glaze, 37, of Forest Lake, who they believed to be the alleged driver at the time of the hit and run. Glaze has not yet been charged. However, a records search reveals that he has previously been convicted for driving after his license was suspended, along with a variety of other crimes in Chisago, Washington and Ramsey counties.

A former Episcopal bishop pleaded guilty Tuesday to manslaughter, drunken driving and leaving the scene at which she killed a cyclist.

Under an agreement with prosecutors, the state will ask a Baltimore Circuit Court judge next month to sentence Heather Cook to 10 years in prison.

Cook, then a newly installed bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, struck 41-year-old Tom Palermo on Dec. 27 in a bike lane near her North Baltimore home. The impact threw him on to the hood and into the windshield of her vehicle. Cook fled to her home before returning to the scene. When she was tested at a police station, her blood-alcohol content level was 0.22 percent; Maryland’s limit is 0.08 percent.

MUSKEGON, MI – Ronnie Jo Claflin has been arraigned for the Aug. 8 hit-and-run death of Susan Cummings, an Oakland County nurse who was bicycling across Michigan with a large group.

And I quote (IX)…

LANSING, MI — Lansing firefighter Dennis Rodeman died after a hit-and-run driver intentionally ran him over while he was collecting funds at a “fill the boot” event to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, police said.

“We believe that this was not an accident and that the actions of this individual were intentional,” Lansing Police Chief Michael Yankowski said.

Firefighters were collecting donations at Jolly Road and Cedar Street in south Lansing when Rodeman was struck. Police were dispatched to the scene at 3:40 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m., Rodeman was pronounced dead.

A 22-year-old man was apprehended in connection with the incident after a car chase, a foot chase and a struggle with police. Police are holding him on probable cause for open murder and felony fleeing and eluding. The evidence will be presented to the prosecutor’s office in the morning. The man’s name has not yet been released.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando Police Officer William Anderson, who was badly injured when he was run down by fleeing suspects in July, discussed his injuries in an emotional news conference on Wednesday.

Anderson has not returned to work and doesn’t know whether he’ll ever wear his police uniform again. He suffered a traumatic brain injury when teenage suspects ran him over during a traffic stop on July 13.

As a result of the hit-and-run, Anderson said he suffers severe spinal, head, neck and back pain and has seen little improvement since he was released from the hospital. He said he has tremors in his hand and has impaired vision because of his brain bouncing against the back of his eyes.

$1K reward offered in Bensalem hit-and-run case

On the morning of Aug. 24, Robert Scott was almost at his home on the 1600 block of Brown Avenue in Bensalem when suddenly he was slammed to the ground by a vehicle that kept going.

The 22-year-old remains on a ventilator at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, and his mother, Christina Scott, prays and visits him daily while still going to work.

OAKLAND, Calif. — A woman who allegedly evaded arrest last month by jumping into the water after crashing a stolen car on the Bay Bridge was charged Wednesday with three misdemeanor counts.

Erlynn Sanchez-Edwards, 25, of Richmond, was scheduled to be arraigned in the afternoon at the Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland on the misdemeanor charges of hit-and-run, resisting an officer and driving on a suspended license.

Sanchez-Edwards was arrested in Oakland on Monday.
