But that’s when Oklahoma City police said the man, who they have not yet identified, was hit by a car on Independence Road near Northwest Expressway Wednesday.
“He was singing,” said Gilmore,” walking down the road right here. They hit him so hard his shoes fell off.”
Gilmore said she immediately rushed to his side, checked for a pulse and then held his hand waiting for help to arrive.
“He was just making a noise,” said the waitress. “I just put my hand on his and kept telling him, ‘Hang on. The ambulance is on its way. Just hang on. Man up. Be strong.’”

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Drivers who leave the scene of an accident in New York City will see stiffer civil penalties under new City Council legislation.
The City Council voted Wednesday to increase penalties for hit-and-runs.
Under the measure, a fatal hit-run accident would trigger a fine of up to $15,000. A new set of penalties was also created for repeat offenders.
The move comes as more than a dozen pedestrians have died on New York City streets since Halloween.
