991. Willimantic, Ct. Oct. 15. Pedestrian suffers internal injuries after being struck by a yet-identified car.
992. Escondido, Cal. Oct. 13. 16-year-old boy injured after being struck by a silver Chrysler PT Cruiser. Witnesses reported seeing a group of men or teenagers chasing another man; driver made an abrupt turn into a driveway and bumped into the victim in the group giving chase. The teen turned around and yelled at the driver before being hit again by the vehicle.
993. Dayton, Ohio. Oct. 16. 61-year-old mayor of Moraine, Ohio died in a street-racing-related hit-and-run. Two adults and a toddler, in one of the cars in the race, were taken to local hospitals with critical injuries. Police are still looking for the driver of the other car at this time.
994. St. Augustine, Fla. Oct. 16. Man whose identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification found dead in street after a hit-and-run involving a yet-described vehicle.
995. Beverly, Mass. Oct. 15. Woman walking with friends injured after being struck by a gold Ford Taurus which fled the scene.
996. Millcreek, Utah. Oct. 17. 43-year-old man struck and killed by a “low profile” car which left “a mess of car parts strewn across the road.” … “An animal is one thing, but a human life — someone that is someone’s loved one? This life is gone,” said Gladys Waggerby, the man’s mother, as she pleaded Sunday for the driver to come forward to police.
997. Monroe, Mich. Oct. 17. 51-year-old bicyclist struck and killed by a white Chevrolet minivan which fled the scene.
998. Muckleshoot Indian Reservation, Wash. Oct. 17. 44-year-old man found dead in a ditch after an apparent hit-and-run with no witnesses.
999. Murray, Utah. Oct. 17. 43-year-old man killed after being struck and dragged by multiple cars, the first of which was similar to a Honda Prelude. “I think there are all kinds of reasons someone does that. They would have had to known they hit him due to the damage done to the car,” said the victim’s sister.

HARTFORD, Conn. — A victim’s family is expressing outrage after a relative of the man convicted in a high-profile hit-and-run came forward in an attempt to collect money for a tip that led police to the arrest.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw a vehicle hit a male pedestrian carrying a baby in Auckland (NZ) today. The baby is in a critical condition after what police believe was a hit and run.

Cailtin Watt said she was with her dog Rupert outside of her Avondale Avenue house Friday afternoon when he ran into the road and was hit by a pizza delivery vehicle that drove off immediately after the accident.
“I was horrified. … I heard the noise of (Rupert) getting hit by the car, and his yelping,” Watt said. “He just drove away. … There were people around and I was screaming.”
She said Rupert, a one-year-old schnauzer mix, suffered a broken humerus and scrapes. A visit to the Ann Arbor Animal Hospital determined he will require surgery estimated to cost $2,600 — surgery Watt says she can’t afford.
