3917. Montclair, NJ. July 8. 18-year-old man injured when struck by a dark SUV which fled the scene.
3918. Knoxville, Tenn. July 8. Pedestrian struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
3919. Des Moines, Iowa. July 8. Bicyclist struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
3920. Athens, Ga. July 8. 63-year-old woman injured when struck by a maroon SUV which fled the scene.
3921. Durham, NC. July 8. Man on bicycle fatally struck by a dark colored, possibly burgundy, late 1990’s or early 2000 model sedan which fled the scene.
3922. Schererville, Ind. July 11. Boy on bicycle injured when struck by a vehicle which fled the scene.
3923. Eunice, La. July 11. 4-year-old girl injured when struck by a late 90’s to early 2000 gray single cab Ford pick up which fled the scene.
3924. Frederick, Md. July 10. Man fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
3925. Pelham Manor, NY. July 10. 14-year-old autistic boy struck by a dark blue Acura sedan which fled the scene.
3926. St. Clair, Mo. July 11. 9-year-old boy critically injured when struck by a late 90s silver or gray Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix or a Chevrolet Malibu which fled the scene.

Three men wasted no time conspiring to cover up the hit-and-run that killed New Orleans police officer Rodney Thomas on Interstate 10 on Sunday morning, the NOPD said Tuesday.
Following the arrests of Justin McKey, Kenneth Halley and Bill Cager, court records revealed what NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas referred to as the “web of deception” surrounding the death of Thomas in the middle of the night on a stretch of I-10.
McKey, 25, who confessed to being behind the wheel of the Porsche that struck and killed Thomas at 12:44 a.m., told police he didn’t see Thomas because it was “dark and I was driving in and out.” But court documents and witness statements portray a much more brutal scenario.

MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) – Madison Police arrested 26-year-old Bethany Paige Schrimsher in connection with a Monday morning hit-and-run involving a bicyclist.
Police say Schrimsher hit 20-year-old Richard Claus II at 4 a.m. Monday on Madison Boulevard near Research Park Boulevard.
A police say a tipster led them to the information needed to secure the arrest.

A former member of the Vice Lords drug gang has been charged with vehicular homicide in the hit-and-run death of a 65-year-old pedestrian in East Knoxville, police said.
Scott Eric Wilson, 34, was arrested Tuesday morning at his girlfriend’s residence on Glenwood Avenue by officers acting on tips from the public, said Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk.
Wilson’s 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood was discovered “parked about a block away from his girlfriend’s home,” DeBusk said.

San Francisco police said Tuesday the department’s hit-and-run unit is investigating the death of a 16-year-old Chinese girl who might have been killed accidentally on the runway Saturday by a fire truck racing to the scene.

The Traverse City community will gather to celebrate the life of a woman killed in a hit and run, while the search for the person responsible for her death continues.
Kelly Boyce Hurlbert was hit while riding her bike on Washington Street just before 2am July 5. Police say after she was hit, she was dragged by the vehicle for more than 1 1/2 blocks. Hurlbert had left work at North Peak Brewing Company and was just a block away from her home where she was left. She died a short time later at the hospital.
Family and friends will gather at one of Hurlbert’s favorite places, F&M Park, to celebrate her life.

A woman who was being questioned about a hit and run set fire to her truck Tuesday afternoon near Fair Park, police said.
Shirley Ann Batts, 46, was arrested after her truck caught fire in the 3500 block of Ash Lane. Police said they had detained Batts at about 2:45 p.m. when she went back to the truck, identified as a “tractor trailor” in a report, to get her purse. Minutes later, the truck cab erupted in flames, police said.
Batts is being held at the Dallas County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. She faces an arson charge.

MUSKEGON, MI — An arrest warrant has been authorized for a man police believe was the driver in a high-profile June 25 hit-and-run accident in Muskegon involving a baby stroller that was dragged with the child still in it, police said.

The man whose dog found a body in the Brighton State Recreation Area late Thursday morning said it appeared the man had simply “laid down” against the tree where he died.
Michigan State Police spent the rest of the day processing the scene. By evening, they could say the body was that of a man approximately 30 years old. It appeared he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Howell police confirmed that Willey was a suspect in a July 4 hit-and-run crash that sent one woman to an area hospital. Police were seeking charges, which had not been authorized as of today.

Kentucky State Police are asking for the public’s help in solving a nearly eight-year-old cold case.
Troopers say someone ran off the right side of US 31 West near Franklin the night of Sept. 25, 2005 and struck two men riding their bicycles home from work at Cracker Barrel.
Troopers say Angel Fernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man, Luis Rodriguez, was taken to Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville where he recovered from his injuries.
Investigators concluded that it is likely the car involved was a 1982 or 1983 Honda Accord.

A Fairfax County police officer has been charged with hit-and-run and filing a false police report after he crashed his cruiser into a utility pole and said another driver hit him.
Carl Joseph Biggs initially told officers the May 12 crash on Gallows Road occurred when an unknown vehicle struck his police cruiser in the back, causing the cruiser to spin and hit the utility pole.
