3992. Dearborn Heights, Mich. July 29. Man injured when struck by a Ford Windstar which fled the scene.
3993. North Hampton, NY. July 29. Pedestrian suffers non-life-threatening injuries when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
3994-96. Denver, Colo. Three people standing at a bus stop injured when struck by a vehicle from which the driver fled the scene but was later arrested.
3997. Richmond, Va. July 28. Man suffers life-threatening injuries when struck by a full-sized pickup truck which fled the scene.
3998. Avondale, Ohio. July 27. Woman seriously injured when struck by a dark Toyota sedan which fled the scene.
3999. Norristown, Pa. July 28. Girl injured when struck by a white sedan which fled the scene.
4000. Phoenix, Ariz. July 30. 12-year-old boy critically injured when struck by a newer-model silver sedan which fled the scene.
4001. Baltimore, Md. Aug. 1. 69-year-old man suffers head trauma and other injuries when struck by a Volvo station wagon which fled the scene.
4002. Miami Beach, Fla. July 28. Bicyclist injured when struck by a Scion which fled the scene.
4003. Huntsville, Ala. July 30. Man critically injured struck by a vehicle which fled the scene; driver later arrested.

Raymond Kalenka
Accused hit-and-run suspect Raymond Kalenka was portrayed as an unfeeling, uncaring driver who “chose” to ignore the sound of Dean LaLima’s body being crushed under his Mercedes-Benz according to prosecutors Monday afternoon at the Nassau County Courthouse in Mineola.

A 61-year-old man died Monday after he was struck by a car near U.S. Highway 175, his family said. Seagoville police arrested Michael Shane Thomas, 29, in connection with the fatal hit-and-run.
And I quote (III)…
Portland police have released surveillance images of the truck suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured bicyclist Mike Jan Cooley of North Portland.
Cooley, 59, was traveling home from his job as a truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service about 11:30 p.m. June 15 when he was hit on North Interstate Avenue, just north of Greeley Avenue.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Now, Cooley is in good condition at a Portland hospital, according to police.
A witness described a white Ford pickup driving erratically before the crash.

“Hit-and-run crashes are a growing problem in Florida,” FHP Director Col. David Brierton said at the time in a prepared statement. “Florida had nearly 70,000 hit-and-run crashes last year. We hope the education awareness campaign and our partnerships with Florida law enforcement agencies and FDOT will help us meet our mission goals of traffic safety.”

A Dallas police officer has been recommended for termination after her arrest earlier this year on a drunken driving and hit-and-run charges.
The recommendation came Monday for Officer Nicole Thomas, 33, during a disciplinary hearing before the department’s assistant chiefs.

Wichita police say they’ve made a huge break in the case of a hit and run that left a man dead and a child seriously injured.
Late Friday, July 5, a man and a young boy on horseback were crossing 21st Street North from Piatt when they were hit by a car. The car quickly drove away following the crash.

CENTRAL ISLIP – A Coram man pleaded not guilty today in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a jogger in Mount Sinai.
Thomas Costa is charged with fleeing the scene of a fatal accident. Police say Costa allegedly ran down Karen Benjamin on Canal Road last month.
The 56-year-old mother of two died from her injuries on July 17.
