An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.
It has been 17 days since a yet-identified Washington Twp. (NJ) police officer hit-and-ran 27-year-old Vance Banks of Sicklerville into a coma and no charges have been filed. This is a disgrace to the concepts of both protect-and-serve and justice itself.
1837. Boise, Idaho. Sept. 1. 46-year-old off-duty police officer training for an upcoming bike race seriously injured when struck by a maroon Pontiac Grand Am, a 2001 or newer model with a spoiler and two fog lights in the rear bumper driven by a white woman with long dark hair.
1838. Denver, Colo. Sept. 1. Bicyclist serious injured when struck by a grey or silver sedan which fled the scene.
1839. Crownsville, Md. Sept. 2. Man injured when struck by a yellow vehicle which fled the scene.
1840. Indianapolis. Sept. 2. 51-year-old woman in a wheelchair injured when struck by a small white or silver car that fled the scene.
1841. Waco, Texas. Sept. 2. Baylor University student riding her bicycle suffers minor injuries when struck by a college-age man driving a 2005 or 2006 white Trans Am who her stopped to check on her, but then got back in the vehicle and drove off.
1842. Flint, Mich. Sept. 3. Man found unresponsive in the street after having been struck by a red pickup truck which fled the scene.
1843. Philadelphia. Sept. 3. 42-year-old man seriously injured when hit by a Honda Civic later found abandoned, no trace of the driver who fled.
1844. Bronx, NY. Sept. 4. 23-year-old man struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
1845. Madison, Ala. Sept 4. Bicyclist injured when struck by a full size pick-up truck, dark green in color, with tinted windows, that fled.
1846. Fresno, Cal. Sept. 3. 43-year-old man struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

Anne Arundel County Police say that they found the victim lying in the front yard of a house in the 950 block of Generals Highway in Crownsville just before 5 a.m. He was suffering from severe leg injuries and was transported to a shock trauma unit.

Authorities say a San Diego County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested in Palm Desert on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
Sheriff’s department spokeswoman Jan Caldwell tells the San Diego Union Tribune that the deputy, Barbara Crozier, is currently on paid administrative assignment while the incident is investigated.

Honolulu police are searching for a man suspected of running over and killing a 19-year-old man and leaving the scene. The hit-and-run followed an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Keolu Drive and Pahumele Place in Kailua, police said.
