2970. Berlin, Md. Aug. 31. 47-year-old man on bicycle injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

2971. Miami, Fla. Sept. 1. Man in his 60s killed when struck and dragged by a black Honda Accord which fled the scene only to be found later.

2972. Marquette, Mich. Sept. 1. 22-year-old man on bicycle injured when struck by a tan vehicle which fled the scene.

2973. Detroit, Mich. Sept. 1. 27-year-old man fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

2974. Fort Wayne, Ind. Sept 2. 3-year-old boy injured when struck by a green minivan which fled the scene; later found, investigation ongoing. (Update: Arrest)

2977. Cincinnati, Ohio. Sept. 2. 53-year-old man fatally struck by a mid-1990s black or dark blue Nissan four-door vehicle which fled the scene.

2978. Fayetteville, Ark. Sept. 2. 20-year-old woman injured when struck by a silver Ford Mustang with no license plates which fled the scene.

2979. Merced, Cal. Sept. 3. 51-year-old man on bicycle injured when struck by a white sedan which fled the scene.

MALDEN, Mass. – An elderly man accused of hitting and running over a motorcyclist several times in Melrose, Mass., is free on $300 bail.

CBS Boston affiliate WBZ-TV reports that 76-year-old Eugene Ledonne pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of assault with a deadly weapon – his car – and leaving the scene of an accident.

Ledonne is accused of hitting the motorcyclist at a red light Sunday morning, knocking him off his bicycle, according to court documents. Witnesses told police Ledonne drove over the victim, backed up and drove over him again.

Court documents say Ledonne allegedly got out of his car, said “I’m sorry” and fled the scene.

Richmond police Capt. William C. Smith, whose duties include supervising the department’s traffic unit, said leaving the scene of a fatal accident is inexcusable.

To knowingly leave somebody to die based on your own actions — we look at that as low as an individual can be, as far as integrity,” he said. “Everybody makes a mistake, but you need to help.”

A grandson of the creator of the Red Bull energy drink has been arrested for driving a Ferrari that struck a police officer and dragged his dead body down a Bangkok street in an early-morning hit-and-run, police said Monday.
Police took Vorayuth Yoovidhya, 27, for questioning after tracing oil streaks for several blocks to his family’s gated estate in a wealthy neighborhood of the Thai capital.

BANGKOK — People in Thailand often joke that prisons are reserved for the poor, because the rich and privileged tend to get away with murder.

Popular online forums were filled with commentary Tuesday about the justice system’s highest-profile test case in years, in which an heir to the Red Bull energy drink fortune allegedly slammed his Ferrari into a policeman and dragged the officer’s dead body along a Bangkok street before speeding away.

Police initially attempted to cover up the heir’s involvement by arresting a bogus suspect — underlining what many people describe as selective law enforcement and the power of political connections.

POPLAR — Police are treating the hit-and-run death of a Poplar man as a homicide.
Tribal criminal investigator Kenny Trottier said that Rueben Blackdog, 33, was pronounced dead after being run down by a vehicle on F Street East in Poplar on Saturday.
David Muskrat was arrested by police and charged with homicide. He is accused of driving the car that ran over Blackdog.

And I quote (VIII)…

San Marcos Police have arrested two women and charged them with felonies after investigators tracked down the suspects in two unrelated hit and runs that left one man dead and three others injured, two seriously, over the weekend.

Jennifer McKernan, age 21, was charged with felony failure to stop and render aid following a fatal hit and run in the 500 block of Wonder World Drive early Monday that claimed the life of a New Braunfels man. She was released from the Hays County Law Enforcement Center under bond of $10,000.

Police also have charged Tiffany Danielle Dahl, age 25, in a separate hit and run that occurred early Sunday in downtown San Marcos, leaving three people injured, two seriously. She was charged with three felony counts of failure to stop and render aid and two counts of intoxication assault (a third degree felony). Dahl remains in jail under $75,000 bond on the five charges.

PITTSTON, Pa. – One man is facing charges in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed two people in northeastern Pennsylvania and police have impounded the car of a man who allegedly sought his help.

Jenkins Township police say 46-year-old Daniel Antonini helped power wash the car involved in the crash that killed 38-year-old Donnie Pizano and 39-year-old Robin Walsh early Sunday in front of a fast-food restaurant near Pittston.

ATLANTA — 31-year-old James Raper pleaded no contest Tuesday to a hit-and-run accident involving a woman in a wheelchair.

The accident happened last month near the intersection of Bolton Road NW and Marietta Road NW.

Raper’s attorney Esther Panitch, says Raper apologized before the hearing and then pleaded no contest.

Panitch says he accepted responsibility for the accident and was ordered to pay $2,700 for the damages to her wheelchair and a $500 fine. He is also on one year probation.

COUNCIL BLUFFS (KPTM)- More than two months after a driver hit two women and a man on a sidewalk, police have arrested the woman they think is responsible.

Police arrested 27-Year-Old Jennifer Hintz outside of T. Henry’s bar in Omaha over the weekend. Police say she hit the three people outside of Goofy’s Bar in Council Bluffs near the end of June.

One of the victims, Misty Rocha, told FOX 42 that she tracked down Hintz over the weekend, found her at the bar, and called police to tell them where she was. Hintz was arrested on her birthday.

BEL AIR, Md. (WJZ) – A 28-year-old woman was injured in a hit and run accident in Bel Air on Monday night. One day later, the alleged driver has contacted police.
