Listen, I get it: Some people in ‘Murica don’t like soccer and never will. Pray for them.

But on the eve-ish of the World Cup, I reckoned the biggest club match of the year — that being Real Madrid’s 4-1 victory over crosstown rival Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Final — warranted major mention.

Major mention with big photo the Times provided.

Wire-copy blurb buried on E6 is sufficient, the Inky decided; sacrificed at the sports-front-tease-only-line altar of stories about the Phillies, a don’t-draft Joel Embiid screed and story about Temple U’s last-ever baseball game (all stories of local interest).

As prioritizing decisions go, this one can be easily justified; I just wish they’d made room for a fourth.
