4847. Joslin, Ill. March 8. 17-year-old male fatally struck by a full-sized truck or SUV which fled the scene.
4848. Santa Ana, Cal. March 8. Man injured when struck by a small gray car which fled the scene.
4849. Dallas, Texas. March 10. Man in his 30s fatally struck by a white pickup truck which fled the scene.
4850. Harrison, Ark. March 8. Man injured when struck by a vehicle which fled the scene. Said victim, “The next thing I remember is my face just kabam, hitting hard as it could, then someone going over me and back over me, that’s all I can remember.”

And I quote (I)…
Detectives impounded a Honda Accord at that was found at Champs Collision and arrested McKnight and Abrams. While police were putting the men into a police cruiser, McKnight turned to the cameras and said “I just want to say that I apologize and I am sincerely sorry. God bless.”
At the time of the hit and run, a couple staying at a nearby hotel said they heard a loud noise and looked over to see a man in midair. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses added the vehicle involved quickly sped off.
The crash remains under investigation.

Further developments in the investigation of a hit-and-run involving a 52-year old Norristown resident have police asking for the public’s assistance. The incident occurred on Mar. 4 at approximately 10:50 p.m. in the westbound lane of the 1500 block of West Main Street, in front of the West Gate Arms Apartments.
The striking vehicle may have been a white sedan with passenger side damage.
The victim was treated at the scene by Plymouth Ambulance and then flown to the University of Pennsylvania, where he remains in critical condition with multiple injuries including head trauma.
Witnesses reported seeing a heavy-set Hispanic woman in her mid-thirties running away from the victim yelling “call the police” shortly after the incident. She was wearing dark colored clothes and entered the passenger side of a black, late 80’s or early 90’s model GM sedan (possibly a Pontiac) that was running rough due to mechanical problems. The vehicle then left the scene traveling westbound.

MONTCLAIR >> Police arrested a Rancho Cucamonga man suspected of leaving the scene after he allegedly struck and killed a woman and sent a 14-year-old girl to the hospital in critical condition following a hit-and-run incident Monday morning.
Nicholas Tortoro, 24, was positively identified as the driver of the vehicle involved in the fatal collision, police said.

DENVER – Reid Huffman, 19, died while trying to walk across South Federal Boulevard late Saturday night after he was twice hit by passing drivers. The first driver, according to Denver police, stopped, but the second driver did not.
Monday morning, Eliu Jimenez, 18, made his first court appearance inside a Denver courtroom. A judge set his bond at $50,000. Police believe Jimenez was drunk when he hit Huffman near South Federal and West Amherst.
Huffman was a member of Americorps and was currently based out of Denver’s Americorps campus less than a block away from where the hit-and-run occurred.

A judge today ordered a retired Allegheny County police officer sent to jail after he pleaded guilty to leaving the scene after striking a pedestrian and killing her in McKeesport last year.
Common Pleas Judge Joseph K. Williams III rejected a defense lawyer’s request that Timothy Tatters, 65, of White Oak, remain free on bond pending his scheduled sentencing June 2. “Take him away,” Judge Williams said, visibly upset that Mr. Tatters had not stopped after the crash or turned himself in later. Mr. Tatters was taken from the courtroom in handcuffs.

COLLINGDALE — An accident reconstruction team was back at the site of Friday night’s hit-and-run crash that killed a 58-year-old borough man.
Members of the South East Region Reconstruction Team were out at the intersection of Clifton Avenue and Spruce Street on Monday morning taking measurements and recreating the crash that killed Timothy McCaughan.
Police officers also were going door to door in the areas from Clifton Avenue to Providence Road in Aldan and Clifton Avenue to MacDade Boulevard looking for witnesses or information.
McCaughan died at the scene of the crash that occurred at about 9:43 p.m. at the intersection of Spruce Street and Clifton Avenue. He was struck by a tan, older-model SUV with square headlights. New surveillance photos show the striking vehicle was missing a hubcap on the front passenger side.

A man charged with a hit-and-run accident that critically injured a Lafayette College freshman as she walked along Lehigh Drive in Easton with fellow crew club members will face trial in Northampton County Court, a district judge ruled Tuesday.
Authorities say Aubrey Baumbach, 18, has needed multiple surgeries since the Nov. 8 accident to help reduce brain swelling from trauma she suffered in the hit-and-run.
Police allege 49-year-old Wilson Kneebone’s vehicle hit Baumbach as she walked with a group of crew members after practice on the Lehigh River. Police said surveillance footage led them to Kneebone’s Martin Creek home 24 hours later.

A tip to police has led to the arrest of a Warren man for a Feb. 20 hit-and-run accident in Center Line that killed a 62-year-old woman.
Anthony Nicholaus Smith, 32, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, Center Line Public Safety officials said Tuesday. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted of that charge.
Olimbi Losha of Warren was struck as she walked along eastbound 11 Mile Road, east of Van Dyke, late in the evening.

A $2,000 reward has been offered in the search for a hit-and-run driver who killed a pedestrian in Collingdale.
The Collingdale Police Department announced the reward on Tuesday morning. The money is for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
The hit-and-run happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Clifton Avenue and Spruce Street.
Police say 57-year-old Timothy McCaughan, a father of three and grandfather of two, was struck by a vehicle as he walked across Clifton Avenue on his way to visit a friend.

Police are searching for an SUV that was involved in a hit and run on February 22. The possible suspect vehicle is said to be a light colored 1995 to 2001 Honda CR-V similar to the one pictured above and should have right side damage and a missing right side mirror. Around 5 p.m. on February 22 an SUV traveling west bound on Central Avenue in Davidsonville near the Patuxent River Bridge struck two bicyclists that were also traveling westbound on Central Avenue. The SUV continued west on Central Avenue into PG County.
