Hit-and-Run America Vol. XL

What a post-surgery hit-and-ran skull looks like

What a post-surgery hit-and-ran skull looks like

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

262. Philadelphia. April 11. 36-year-old man suffers serious, critical head injuries after being struck by “a black Lincoln Continental with tinted windows and front-end damage.” (I should just keep Philadelphia cut-and-paste ready on my clipboard since my town is apparently the national king of hitting-and-running these days.)

263. Philadelphia. April 11. Third-year law-student at Temple suffers life-threatening injuries when struck on the Ben Franklin Parkway by a “white late 1980s or early 1990’s Mercury Topaz or Ford Escort” which didn’t stop at the scene. (This happened within an hour of No. 262.)

264. Palm Springs, Cal. April 10. 85-year-old man struck and killed by a “white, newer model pickup truck” that fled the scene, most likely with front-end damage.

265. Baltimore, Md. April 9. Maryland state trooper suffers minor injuries when his cruiser was struck by “a dark car, possibly a Honda, [that] hit it from the rear and drove away.”

266. Mount Pleasant, Mich. April 11. 20-year-old man seriously injured when struck and dragged by a vehicle while he and a friend were pushing their disabled ride. Suspect car later found; driver not found yet.

267. Hammond, La. April 10. 56-year-old woman killed in a three-car-involved hit-and-run collision during which a “an older model black Cadillac SUV” forced the car in which she was an unseatbelted passenger from the road.

268. Maryville, Tenn. April 9. 4X-year-old man on bicycle seriously injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene.

The list: Nos. 1-17, 18-24, 25-30, 31-39, 40-43, 44-56, 57-64, 65-72, 73-78, 79-82, 83-88, 89-93, 94-104, 105-114, 115-116, 117-118, 119-121, 122-126, 127-128, 129-135, 136-142, 143-154, 155-161, 162-165, 166-172, 173-179, 180-193, 194-198, 199-200, 201-213, 214-219, 220-224, 225-228, 229-231, 232-241, 242-247 248-255 256-258, 259-261, 262-268.

Well, it has been 2.5 months, and Americans are a selfish-to-the-point-of-deadly people.
