Will Suzanne Lammers plead guilty to Main Line hit-and-run?

Well, from all indications I got yesterday from the Montgomery County assistant district attorney and her defense counsel, the Main Line doyenne who (allegedly):
— hit a 12-year-old boy on a bike,
— hid the car in her garage,
— played dumb until tipsters sent police her way,
— claimed she thought she hit a deer,
— and then made woefully disgusting comments about overcoming life’s speedbumps in a NY Times Vows piece about her daughter’s wedding,

… could very well admit guilt at an aptly named “guilty-plea hearing” in Norristown. Here’s the story in today’s Metro …

An elderly Main Line woman charged in connection with the July 2009 hit-and-run which left a 13-year-old boy seriously injured could soon plead guilty. A “guilty-plea hearing” for Suzanne Kaiser Lammers, 76, is scheduled for July 6 in Montgomery County Common Pleas court.

Asked whether his client will plead guilty, attorney Frank DeSimone said, “We’ll see. It’s possible.” He declined further comment.

Anthony Gil, the assistant district attorney handling the case, said yesterday that he informed the unnamed victim’s parents that a plea isn’t definite, “But that as of now, I would be there.”

If Lammers pleads, sentencing won’t be addressed until a later date. If she doesn’t, trial would be scheduled, Gil said.

Lammers initially claimed she didn’t see extensive news reports that Lower Merion police seeking a vehicle resembling the one stashed in her Villanova garage with a broken windshield. After anonymous tipsters sent investigators Lammers’ way, she reportedly told police she thought she’d struck a deer.

Charged with an accident involving personal injury and failing to render aide, Lammers faces a 90-day sentence.
