I, too, worry about pedestrian injuries and death, which is why the city should heed the lessons of 14 years ago. I’m not saying fine everybody; I’m saying fine those risking injury not only to themselves, but to others.
People probably mocked Operation Crosswalk, too. But it may have saved the life of somebody you know or share a crosswalk with in Center City.
