Guess who's back, back again ...

Guess who's back, back again ...

Spent the wee hours today hanging out in studio with Big Daddy Graham on his first* night back on the 610-WIP airwaves after a difficult haul of recovering from throat-cancer surgery. Ed’s a great guy and while he’s not yet back to full strength, it was great to hear so many callers welcoming him back and telling him how much his voice means to their early-morning souls.

Also in studio was Jay Black (a really, really funny dude who’d compiled a Top 10 TV Badasses for the occasion; I took issue with Sipowicz from NYPD Blue, Snoop from The Wire and Christopher from The Sopranos not making the cut, but lists is lists, right?). Also there was BDG intern “Undercover Boss Dave” David Malandra, who’s currently going into his senior year at Neumann University Majoring in Sport Management. (Like all interns, Undercover Boss Dave keeps behind-the-scenes info running smoothly.) Great guys. Great time.

Catch the article in the paper tomorrow.

And on behalf of me and mine, welcome back to the land of the living, Big Daddy Graham. You’re great people.

* = He did a few days earlier in the process, but that was before the radiation left him bed-bound for a while. With the help of Ensure and “liquid Percocet,” but not any hooch, he’s gradually getting all the way back.
