Hit-and-Run America, Vol. MXVII

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously. 14561. Milwaukee police are looking for a suspect in a Tuesday hit-and-run that seriously injured a pedestrian. Police said a 71-year-old man was crossing the street when he was hit near Teutonia and Villard around 3 p.m. The vehicle took off, and the victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

14562. FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Investigators are looking for a driver after a person was found dead on the side of a road in Fairfield overnight, according to the police department.

14563. The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run Wednesday morning. The crash happened on Interstate 10 East at the Poydras Street exit in the Central Business District. According to police, a person was struck by a car at the intersection around 1:57 a.m. EMS declared the victim dead on the scene.

14564. The victim’s wife, Robin, tells Action News her husband was adored at home and in the community. She says since 2012, he worked as an anesthesia technician at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

14565. New evidence is leading IMPD detectives to investigate a deadly crash from last month as a hit-and-run. A memorial sits at 30th Street and Pawnee Drive where motorcyclist Brent Markey was killed in a crash on March 26. While investigators initially believed he died after losing control of his motorcycle, police now believe it was the result of a hit-and-run.

14566. When officers arrived, they located a 14-year-old who suffered minor injuries. The juvenile was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

14567. CLEVELAND, Ohio – Authorities are seeking to identify the driver involved in a fatal hit-skip crash that occurred April 5.

14568. A cyclist was taken to a hospital after a hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning in northwest Oklahoma City.

14569. A 13-year-old Arizona boy who was struck by a driver in a hit-and-run while riding his bike nearly two weeks ago has died. Glendale Police and the family of 13-year-old Elias Bizzle confirmed the teenager died from his injuries Tuesday. On April 11, he and some friends were out riding their bikes. Police say the group was crossing an intersection using the crosswalk when Elias was hit, KPHO reports.

14570. A longtime baker of Bob’s Donut’s in San Francisco remains hospitalized in critical condition following a hit-and-run-incident on his way to work, police said.

14571. A man has died after he was struck by a vehicle along Chapman Highway overnight Friday, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

14572. Prince George’s County police are seeking to identify a car in connection with a hit-and-run in Laurel, Md. that left a man dead on April 21.

14573. One person was killed and another was injured in a hit-and-run crash Friday, investigators said. It happened around 2:09 p.m. at 6909 Sepulveda Blvd in Van Nuys, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Firefighters said two pedestrians were struck by a truck. One was killed and the other victim was taken to the hospital. The driver of the truck fled the scene.

14574. A victim has died after they were hit while walking along I-73 South in Guilford County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

14575. A man is hospitalized after being hit by a van while walking across the street in Philadelphia Friday afternoon, according to police.

14576. Police are investigating what appears to be a hit-and-run crash after one person was found dead in the road, Kalamazoo police said.
