Hit-and-Run America, Vol. MMXLI

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously. 15030. Chief Inspector D.F. Pace told Action News it appears the Dodge intentionally ran into the man, pushing him 70 feet off the roadway and into a nearby gully. “It looks like that Dodge Durango intentionally rammed the male,” said Pace. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital. There is no word yet on his identity.

15031. On September 13, 2024, the Chambersburg Police Department was called to the intersection of E Vine Street and Duke Alley following reports of a hit-and-run incident. Authorities are currently seeking a black Lincoln SUV, notable for a damaged driver’s side mirror, believed to have struck a bicyclist before fleeing the scene.

15032. The Fort Myers Police Department is seeking information regarding a hit-and-run that happened in Fort Myers Sunday morning.

15033. GRESHAM, Ore. (KPTV) – A driver is wanted following a deadly hit-and-run in Gresham early Monday morning. At about 1:48 a.m., officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian near Southeast Stark Street and Southeast 164th Avenue. Officers arrived to the scene and found a man dead.

15034. The Mooresville Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a young woman early Sunday morning. Officers responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian on Rocky River Road about 12:02 a.m., according to an MPD news release.

15035. The mother of a 19-year-old former Tomball Memorial High School athlete is asking police and the public for help to identify the driver who killed him in a hit-and-run. According to Houston Police, Yeriel Rodriguez Mercado was speeding down Highway 290 on Labor Day weekend when he struck a vehicle and was thrown from his bike. As he tried to stand up, police say he was run over by a second car. The second car’s driver did not stop and has not been identified. Police believe the suspect was driving a white Jeep.

15036. The Clark County Coroner’s Office said the person hit by the unidentified succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

15037. Police are asking the public’s help in finding the driver of a vehicle they say hit a cyclist in the intersection of Link and Pittman roads in Fairfield Friday night. Police received 911 calls around 7:55 p.m. regarding a vehicle versus bicycle collision at the intersection, according to police.

15038. The Mooresville Police Department is asking the public for their assistance in the investigation of a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 20-year-old Mooresville woman.

15039. The Oxford Police Department said on Facebook a bicyclist was struck by a dark-colored pickup truck at the intersection of Pottle Road and Main Street around 12:30 p.m.

15040. DeKalb Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on North Decatur Road on Monday, Sept. 16. DeKalb Police responded to a person hit by a vehicle on North Decatur Road near Calhoun Street. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, officers were called around 7:45 a.m. after the victim was found in a wooded area.

15041. “She literally saw her life about to end,” said Aamer, the uncle of one of the victims.

15043. Video released by LAPD shows a black Hyundai sedan traveling westbound on Ventura Boulevard and attempting to make a left turn onto Costello Avenue. That’s where the driver struck the victim, a 63-year-old woman who was walking in a crosswalk, knocking her to the ground.

15044. A woman was found dead in Northeast Portland early Wednesday morning after police said she was killed in a hit-and-run crash.

15045. One man is dead after being hit by a car in Columbus, near the fairgrounds, on Wednesday.

15046. Miguel Leonides Garcia, 58, was crossing the street to the west at Broadway and Mission Avenue when a white “off-road style” SUV struck him shortly after 6 a.m., according to the Escondido Police Department.

15047. Police are searching for the driver accused in a hit-and-run in Sound Beach. News 12 has been told a woman was hit by a silver Toyota Corolla around 10 p.m. on Sept. 12.

15048. A 2-year-old boy was struck and killed by a pickup truck Tuesday afternoon in an Eastport parking lot, according to Annapolis Police Chief Ed Jackson.

15049. An investigation is underway after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on the west side of Indianapolis Wednesday night.

15050. Redmond police need help identifying the victim of a fatal hit-and-run that occurred last weekend. Around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, officers were called to reports of a hit-and-run near NE 90th St and Redmond-Woodinville Rd NE. According to police, an older man was crossing the street when he was struck by a car. The suspect car then sped away, leaving the man on the ground with major injuries.

15051. The Eden Prairie Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify a driver involved in a hit-and-run incident on Sunday, Sept. 15.

15052. The Woodburn Police Department is seeking additional information from the public regarding a hit-and-run crash that injured a teenager skateboarding on Sept. 7, according to Woodburn police. Officers are looking for the suspect.

15053. “It just hurts that I’m trying to find out what happened to get her some help, cause she ain’t got nothing,” Florez said. “They sent paperwork out to all her family members that she’s supposed to know, none of them answered.”

15054. The St. Petersburg Police Department is searching for the driver in a hit-and-run crash that left an 18-year-old seriously injured Thursday, officers said in a news release.
