6989. Kansas City, Mo. Aug. 11. Pedestrian struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
6990. Davenport, Iowa. Aug. 9. 44-year-old woman injured when struck by a dark blue or black sedan which fled the scene.
6991. Glassboro, NJ. Aug. 11. 52-year-old man injured when struck by an orange Dodge Neon which fled the scene.
6992. Paterson, NJ. Aug. 10. 16-year-old bicyclist fatally struck by a VW Jetta which fled the scene. (Update: Arrest)

6999. Sanibel Island, Fla. Aug. 12. Man in wheelchair injured when struck by a blue or purple car which fled the scene.
7000. Philadelphia, Pa. Aug. 11. 46-year-old man fatally struck by a bus which fled the scene; driver later located, interviewed.
7001. Phoenix, Ariz. Aug. 13. Man on bicycle fatally struck by a white Chrysler minivan which fled the scene.
7002. Milwaukee, Wisc. Aug. 12. 40-year-old man injured when struck by a white SUV which fled the scene.

David Crowhurst, 20, of Gulf Breeze, Fla. had been riding a skateboard down the broad, long driveway of Bethlehem Lutheran Church with some of his siblings when he entered St. Francis Road in the path of an oncoming car, Corcoran said.
Crowhurst hit the windshield and was thrown. The driver didn’t stop.

For Woodland native Evan Giebel the moments leading up to his being knocked off his bicycle were very clear, the rest is a cascade of images and emotions that are only days later coming together.
Speaking from his hospital room at Kaiser in Sacramento on Sunday, Giebel, 32, was still recovering from a “brain bleed” sustained around 2:14 a.m. last Friday when he was bicycling about six blocks back to his home with a friend after having a few beers at another friend’s home.
He was hoping to be released from Kaiser sometime on Monday.
