6740. Stanton, Cal. June 16. 40-year-old man on bicycle fatally struck by a dark-colored SUV which fled the scene.

6741. Indianapolis, Ind. June 16. 23-year-old woman badly injured when struck by a gray Ford 500 which fled the scene.

6742. Arvada, Colo. June 14. 60-year-old man fatally struck by a dark-colored sedan which fled the scene.

6743. New London, Ct. June 15. Man injured when struck by a moped, the rider of which fled the scene.

6744. Paterson, NJ. June 16. 23-year-old man fatally struck by a white Mercedes which fled the scene. (UPDATE: Off-duty police officer arrested)

6757. Yuma, Ariz. June 16. 13-year-old boy injured when struck by a black, 1990s model Honda Civic two-door vehicle which fled the scene.

6758. San Francisco, Cal. June 17. 81-year-old woman injured when struck by a cyclist which fled the scene.

6759-60. Manitowoc, Wisc. June 14, June 17. 23- and 15-year-old bicyclists injured when struck by vehicles, which fled the scene, in separate incidents.

ATLANTA (WXIA) — One year ago — June 2014 – The story of Decatur cyclist Greg Germani became the lead story on the evening news.

Struck by a hit-and-run driver in town, Germani was in a coma near death at Grady Memorial Hospital while Atlanta Police searched for the driver who hit him.

Fifty-three weeks later, Germani struggles to reclaim pieces of his former life while accused driver Joseph Lewis sits in a jail cell waiting for trial on an attempted murder charge.

On Monday, 11Alive’s Jeff Hullinger visited Germani in his Decatur home, for what marks his first interview since the accident.

“I have it pretty damn good, I have to say,” he said. “I’ve had a rough spot here in my life. The comeback has been slow and steady.”

A former Osage Nation police officer who reportedly hit and killed a homeless man with his vehicle in May was charged Monday.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Corey Blake Stewart, who was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and obstructing an officer.

Stewart, 26, was off-duty when his car fatally struck 55-year-old Shawn Watashe in the 6700 block of East Admiral Place on the evening of May 1, Tulsa police reported. Watashe died at the hospital.

And I quote (III)…

Louis Charging Bear, 56, was hit by a motorcycle as he crossed Cedar Avenue at 27th Street in Minneapolis on the night of June 5. Investigators released video Tuesday of the man riding that motorcycle 11 days ago.

And I quote (IV)…

An Albuquerque woman who left the scene after her van hit and killed a pedestrian on St. Francis Drive in the early morning hours of May 23, 2013, took a plea deal Monday that calls for her to serve five years of probation.

Kristin Edmondson , then 22, told police she didn’t stop that morning after she struck 29-year-old Juan Lopez of Chimayó near the San Mateo Road intersection at about 3:30 a.m. because she thought she had hit an animal, perhaps a dog.

MILWAUKEE —It’s been a tough road to recovery for a Marquette University graduate student who was almost killed in a hit-and-run in January at 17th and Wells streets.

Five months later, the driver has yet to be found.

(VI)…

“There are two suspects,” Lange said. “One is definitely not going anywhere (the person is in jail, according to Lange) and we are keeping tabs on the second suspect.”

And I quote (VII)…

CHULA VISTA — A man who ran down his ex-wife in Chula Vista and then fled to Mexico was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years to life in prison.

And I quote (VIII)…

The man charged with hitting a 90-year-old Harrison woman with his SUV last month and fleeing the scene of the accident has been released on a summons and will now see his case sent to a grand jury.

And I quote (IX)…

When George Meada was first questioned by Palm Beach Gardens police about the front-end damage to his Lexus SUV, he explained it was from hitting a wild hog.

But both he and his wife knew they had hit and killed a bicyclist Sunday after a night out in Palm Beach Gardens when they watched the news the next morning, according to a police report. Meada just decided not to call 911, he told police.

A St. Paul woman was charged Friday in the March hit-and-run crash that put another woman in a coma.

Danielle D. Sivels, 30, was charged in Ramsey County District Court with three counts of criminal vehicular operation for the crash in St. Paul that injured Sophia Bouwens.
