DETROIT (WXYZ) – Detroit Police have a man in custody in connection to a deadly accident that happened over the weekend on the city’s west side.

Witnesses told police the man had been standing in the roadway throwing bottles at cars and hitting the windows of passing vehicles with the machete. While he was in the road, witnesses said it appeared he was struck intentionally by one vehicle, and then by a second vehicle, police said.
A video of the incident posted on YouTube shows the man gesticulating with the machete and lunging toward several passing cars. One vehicle, a red sedan, slows after a confrontation and circles back around, driving toward the man and striking him once before backing up and striking him again. A second vehicle, a white sedan, then strikes the man.
The man can be seen standing up again in the video and continuing to gesture with the machete, while a red vehicle that might be the initial sedan circles the block around him several times.
The man suffered minor injuries. He was taken to a local hospital and placed on a psychiatric hold, police said.

OCEANSIDE, Calif. — Authorities reached out to the public Wednesday for help in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian gravely injured on a roadside near Guajome County Regional Park.
Passers-by found the 40-year-old victim lying next to the north side of state Route 76 between North Santa Fe Avenue and College Boulevard in Oceanside shortly before 10:30 p.m. Sept. 17, according to police.
Medics took the man to a hospital, where he was treated for serious brain trauma, more than two dozen broken bones and other injuries, Lt. Leonard Cosby said. The victim’s right leg was so badly damaged it had to be amputated.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – North Carolina Highway Patrol has arrested a man they say is responsible for injuring four pedestrians, including a WBTW employee, on March Oaks Drive in Wilmington on October 10.
Aaron Williams, 23, was picked up on hit-and-run charges Sunday, according to Assistant District Attorney Samantha Dooies.
According to North Carolina troopers, four pedestrians were walking against traffic on the shoulder of Marsh Oaks Drive around 1:50 a.m. on October 10. One of the victims told troopers the group was walking home from Liberty Tavern when an SUV ran off the road and hit all four victims.
