4807. Houston, Texas. Feb. 26. Man fatally struck by two vehicles which fled the scene.
4808. Butler, Pa. Feb. 22. Postal worker injured when struck by a blue hatchback vehicle which fled the scene.
4809. Tulsa, Okla. Feb. 26. 57-year-old woman fatally struck by a van which fled the scene.
4810. Fontana, Cal. Feb. 26. Man in his fifties fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
4811. Santa Maria, Cal. Feb. 27. 68-year-old man on bicycle seriously injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
4812. Las Vegas, Nev. Feb. 21. Pedestrian injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
4813. Austin, Ill. Jan. 17. Man injured when struck by a white or light-colored four-door sedan, possibly a 2001-2005 Buick Century or Le Sabre. which fled the scene.
4814. Lunenberg, Mass. Feb. 27. 26-year-old man seriously injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
4815. Queens, NY. Feb. 27. 73-year-old woman fatally struck by a vehicle which fled the scene but was later caught.

Police arrested a woman in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a Vancouver man last year.
Jessica B. Van Wechel, 30, was arrested in Camas, Wash. on Wednesday, according to Vancouver Police spokeswoman Kim Kapp.
The crash occurred on Oct. 28, 2013 at Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard and 105th Avenue in Vancouver. Stephen D. Dewey, 65, was seriously injured when a vehicle hit him while he was crossing the street. He was using a walker at the time.
Dewey died at the hospital.

A judge has denied a request by hit-and-run suspect Thomas Letteer Jr. to suppress statements he made to police investigating the death of a 5-year-old boy.
Attorneys for Letteer had asked a judge to block statements he gave to police when they approached him outside his Plains Township home on Dec. 23, 2012, two days after the fatal crash that killed Kevin Miller on North Street in Wilkes-Barre.

“This individual is only 27 years old, and it was the 26th offense of driving while under suspension. As a matter of fact, last year, he was stopped 19 separate times. He had an accident in October of last year, and he had an accident in January of this year,” Racine Police Lt. Gary Larsen said.
Lt. Larsen calls Kindle’s record “mind-boggling,” but when it comes to enforcing Kindle’s revoked license, their hands are tied.
“It’s a municipal fine. It’s not even a criminal charge,” Lt. Larsen said.

SAN JOSE — Police announced Tuesday that two people have been arrested in the city’s seventh homicide, which involved a man being fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver after a Feb. 16 altercation at the Capitol Flea Market.
Andrew Reynoso, 24, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of murder, while Davinna Mariscal, 21, was arrested Feb. 18 on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact. Both are San Jose residents.

The Pensacola Police Department is seeking a suspect who failed to appear for her sentencing in connection to a 2012 hit-and-run offense.
Bridgette Ann Cross, 48, was involved in a traffic crash at the Intersection of I and Cervantes streets, according to a news release from the PPD. She reportedly fled the scene in her vehicle, but was later arrested on charges of hit-and-run involving serious injury and driving with a suspended license.

Anyone who drives off after hitting another vehicle and injuring someone would find themselves the subject of intensive manhunts under a bill that won preliminary approval in the Colorado House on Tuesday.
The measure, HB1191, would operate similarly to the more well-known Amber Alert, which uses the media and other sources when a child is abducted.
This system, created in Denver in 2012 and now operating in at least one other Colorado city, would do the same for hit-and-run drivers, but only in the case of serious bodily injury or death, said Rep. Kathleen Conti, R-Littleton, who introduced the bill with Sen. Steve King, R-Grand Junction.
“This will assist our law enforcement in the apprehension of the folks that would flee the scene of a serious bodily injury or fatality accident,” Conti said.

MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) – The family of a teenager who was hit and killed by several vehicles more than a year ago said they still do not have answers.
On Dec. 7, 2012, Cailyn Bassett, 15, was walking along Saybrook Road in Middletown. She was on her way to the Fellowship Church for a youth group meeting from a bus stop when, according to her family, she was struck by three cars and a truck.
The incident was caught on camera by a neighboring business, investigators said.
Joan Bassett, Cailyn Bassett’s grandmother, said the weather may have played a role.
“Nobody knew it was a person, they thought they hit a bump because it was foggy,” she said.
That theory, however, was never confirmed and Cailyn Bassett’s death was still under investigation as of Thursday.
Joan Bassett said she’s been in contact with the detective on the case.
“It just doesn’t make sense that now, a year, and it’s still sitting in the forensics department,” she said.

A veteran traffic homicide detective took the stand Thursday in the trial of 39-year-old Sandor Guillen, charged in the fatal hit-and-run that crash that killed 13-year-old Kaely Camacho.
On the second day of proceedings, Miami-Dade Police Sgt. David Greenwell showed the jury photos of the April 2012 wreck.
“I have never seen a car ripped in half like this,” Greenwell said. “And I look at car crashes all the time.”
