Aug. 14. 79-year-old man dies after the vehicle he’s in was rear-ended on the Garden State Parkway by a blue sport-utility vehicle or minivan which fled the scene with the front-end driver’s side damaged. Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Jersey State Police Bloomfield station at (973) 338-1370.
811. Elmira, NY. Aug. 24. 18-year-old man skateboarding critically injured by a gold or tan “sporty sedan” which fled the scene.
812. Ghent, Kent. Aug. 25. 24-year-old man killed while trying to remove his car from a ditch after being involved in an earlier non-injury accident, when he was hit by a passing car which was later found sans driver.
813. Chicago. Aug. 26. State trooper treated and released at the hospital after being dragged by a car which fled the scene but was caught on the trooper vehicle’s camera.
814. Ann Arbor, MI. Aug. 25. 39-year-old professional bicyclist (Jason Lummis) struck by a unidentified vehicle which fled the scene. He was found by two motorcyclists in a ditch with massive blood loss and remains in the ICU.
815. Ambridge, Pa. Aug. 25. 9-year-old girl on a bike injured after being struck by a charcoal or black colored sports utility vehicle which fled.
816. Page, Az. Aug. 25. Three women jogging suffer severe, traumatic injuries when struck by a dark-colored, possibly maroon or red, 1990s model Ford Explorer which fled the scene.
817. Upper Darby, Pa. Aug. 24. 29-year-old police officer John News struck by a vehicle while running after three suspects in an unrelated matter. “The dirtball that hit him never stopped,” police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said. “It happened so fast the only description he could provide was it was a four-door silver car with one occupant.”
818. North Platte, Neb. Aug. 25. 14-year-old boy on a bike injured after being struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
