1489. Linden, NJ. April 18. 23-year-old woman suffers broken ribs, internal injuries and facial cuts when struck by a silver sport-utility vehicle, possibly a Mazda Tribute, which eluded a police officer who gave chase along side streets.
1490. Yuba City, Cal. April 18. Pedestrian struck and killed by a mid-to-late 1990s “single cab” model like a Ford Ranger or Toyota which didn’t even bother to slow down.
1491. Boston. April 18. 6-year-old boy injured when struck by a maroon Mitsubishi with a tan or beige top which fled the scene.
1492. Philadelphia. April 18. Pedestrian suffers minor injuries when struck by a green minivan which jumped up onto the sidewalk and fled.
1493. Arlington, Texas. April 19. 15-year-old girl struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which left her to die.
1494. Gresham, Ore. April 17. 22-year-old woman suffers leg and head injuries when struck by a dark blue 2003 or 2004 Toyota Corolla which fled.
1495. Sun City, Ariz. April 19. 85-year-old man in a golf cart injured when it was struck by a red or maroon-colored Jeep Cherokee or Grand Cherokee with a license plate that possible starts with “AH”.
1496. Syracuse, NY. April 19. Pedestrian struck by unidentified vehicle which fled.
1497. Monmouth, Ill. April 19. 21-year-old man hospitalized after being struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled.
1498. Mobile, Al. April 17. 41-year-old woman on bicycle suffers a broken vertebrae in her back and an injured ankle when, while training for a 100-mile ride next month, she was struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled.
Meanwhile, local cyclists have organized a group ride for May 18 to remember bike riders who have been killed or injured on the road. Helmets will be required.
1499. Santa Rosa, Cal. April 18. 63-year-old man injured when struck by an identified vehicle while he crossed the street.

Born with spinal muscular atrophy, Cynthia Gershanow (pictured) had already become accustomed to life in a wheelchair. But since a hit-and-run driver stripped her of even her limited mobility, she has been forced to cope with a new lifestyle — one confined to a bed.
Nearly six months later, she’s still recovering from her injuries and hoping that police will be able to solve the case and make an arrest.
