Hit-and-Run America, Vol. CXC (Pt. 1 of 2)

An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

1462. Bethpage, NY. April 6. 32-year-old man killed when the bicycle on which he rode with another person was struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled.

1463. Minneapolis, Minn. April 6. Man on bicycle suffers life-threatening injuries when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

1464. Raleigh, NC. April 7. High-school sophomore injured when struck by a light-colored SUV, possibly a white or silver Nissan or Isuzu, which fled the scene.

1465. Pearl, Miss. April 6. 24-year-old who served two tours in Iraq suffers critical head and spinal cord injuries when his motorcycle was cut off by a white van or sport utility vehicle that took off.

1466. Branford, Ct. April 6. 61-year-old woman suffers minor injuries when struck by a mid-to-late 90’s Cadillac with vertical tail lights and one or two “sevens” on the license plate which failed to remain at the scene.

1467. Erlanger, Ky. April 8. 65-year-old grandfather struck and killed while fixing a tire on his car, by a 2001 to 2007 gray Toyota Sequoia SUV which likely has damage to the passenger side, and possibly silver streaks from Minor’s car. (Update: Suspected vehicle located.)

1468. Kannapolis, NC. April 8. Child injured when struck by a black Jeep Cherokee which fled the scene.

1469. Cobb County, Ga. April 9. 43-year-old man on a bicycle struck and killed by a silver 2002 to 2009 Chevrolet TrailBlazer which fled the scene

Later in the day, Brian A. Rolle, 37, of Powder Springs, drove to a Cobb police precinct to file a report about damage to his 2004 TrailBlazer. At around 5 p.m., Rolle told police that he’d hit something. The damage was consistent with the vehicle in the hit-and-run, said Officer Joe Hernandez of the Cobb police.

1470. Grand Prairie, Texas. 40-year-old man and horse killed when struck by a vehicle from which a drunk-driving Mexican citizen ran, but was eventually caught.

1471. Philadelphia. April 9. 28-year-old man struck and killed by an unknown vehicle which fled the scene. The victim was celebrating his birthday.

1472. Clearlake, Cal. April 9. 22-year-old man struck and killed by a vehicle which fled the scene. Arrest made later.

1473. Encinitas, Cal. April 9. 47-year-old man on a bicycle fatally struck by an unknown vehicle which fled the scene.
