Luciano_Medina An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

1310. Chicago. Feb. 8. Two women, including one in her 50s, critically injured when struck by an SUV which fled.

1311. Miami. Feb. 9. 91-year-old man critically injured when struck by a vehicle; all caught on video.

1312. Upper Darby, Pa. Feb. 2. 32-year-old woman in critically injured while “walking in the street due to the snow” but was struck by a dark-colored pickup truck which sped away. UPDATE: Caught.

1313. Santa Maria, Cal. Feb. 7. 7-year-old boy injured when struck by a dark gray minivan which fled the scene.

1314. Escondido, Cal. Feb. 9. Man severely injured after being struck by a white full-size pickup was towing a black flat-bed trailer which fled the scene.

1315. Minneapolis, Minn. Feb. 8. A University of Minnesota student who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash has a message for the driver: “Turn yourself in.”

1316. Augusta, Ga. Feb. 8. Woman’s body found on the side of the road being treated as a hit-and-run fatality.

1317. Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Feb. 9. 11-year-old girl suffers minor injuries after being struck by a silver car which fled.

1318. St. Joseph County, Ind. Feb. 9. 40-year-old man struck and killed by what witnesses reported was a dark-color sport utility vehicle, possibly a Jeep Liberty but a caller to police said was a dark Dodge Durango, with Indiana plates.

1319. Valinda, Cal. Feb. 9. 16-year-old boy injured when struck by a dark blue, older-model Chevrolet sedan, similar to a Caprice or an old police car, with Arizona license plates, which fled the scene.

1320. Riverside, Ill. Feb. 10. Crossing guard struck and killed by a vehicle which an “elderly man with gray hair, stopped momentarily and exchanged words, according to the release. The driver then left the area. The vehicle was red and possibly a Ford Focus.

1321. Pacoima, Cal. Feb. 11. Mother in her 20s killed and three young children injured when struck by a gray pickup truck which took off and left her to die. The children — she was babysitting two of them — weren’t badly hurt.

1322. S. Dennis, Mass. Feb. 12. 22-year-old man injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

1323. Morgantown, WV. Feb. 11. 55-year-old man injured when struck by a dump truck which fled the scene.

1324. Greensboro, NC. Feb. 11. 50-year-old man suffers non-life-threatening injuries when struck by a cream or tan-color, newer model Cadillac which didn’t stop.

New information has emerged that indicates it wasn’t the first accident Cohens has been involved with.
A story in the New York Daily News from December 2003 – and sent via Twitter to The Reporter, sister paper to The Mercury, by a reader – describes an accident in Manhattan in which an unidentified homeless man “was crushed by an 18-wheeler when he tried to cross against the light at First Ave. and 27th St.”

Pressed further, he simply said, “I am (expletive) drunk.”
A breath test confirmed a 0.21 percent blood-alcohol content, according to the report.

Anderson has an inoperable tumor, but recent treatments have helped. His mother feels her son has suffered enough and she wants the driver who hit him to come forward.
“These are not just casual things,” Marti Anderson says. “You’re not just bumping the curb. You’re bumping into people, and it makes me really angry.”
Anderson was supposed to have chemotherapy later the same day he was hit. His family says the crash is a huge setback and his cancer treatment will have to be re-evaluated, possibly even postponed.

The alleged assailant brandished a sword, swinging it at his enemy, who had climbed out of his own vehicle, Hinderlider said.
The suspect fell, giving the victim time to pick up a machete that happened to be laying in his yard and defend himself from his alleged attacker, Hinderlider said. Meanwhile, the victim’s mother, still in the vehicle, dialed 9-1-1 from her cellular phone.

It has been over a year since an apparent hit-and-run accident killed University of Maine elementary education student Jordyn Bakley and, according to the prosecution, the passage of time has only strengthened the evidence.

Boston Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for the fatal hit-and-run accident that killed Northeastern graduate Andrew Prior, 24, of Boston, in November.
Officers arrested Colin Ratiu, 23, of Boston, and charged him with motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of an accident after causing death.

A Henrico (Va.) woman is in jail with no bond this afternoon after allegedly ramming a Good Samaritan who called police and followed the woman after he witnessed an earlier hit and run.
Jessica A. McCauley, 24, of the 5100 block of Monument Ave., allegedly used a false name and declined to be tested for alcohol after she slammed her car into a concerned witness who followed her after he saw a woman speed away from a traffic accident Thursday at Bethlehem Road and Broad Street.

A South Florida man has been honored for his good deed in stopping a suspected hit and run driver.
Mark Brown was given a plaque for his bravery when he intervened to help stop an alleged hit and run driver.
Brown said he was only doing what he thought was right. “It was a sad day, last Tuesday, no one won. All persons, even the person that did the hit and run. I just say a prayer for everyone,” said Brown.
