1301. Chicago. Feb. 4. Man in his 40s struck and killed by an undescribed vehicle.
1302. Pueblo, Colo. Feb. 3. Woman injured after getting pinned between two cars; the vehicle which forced the two cars together fled. The victim (pictured) suffered several broken bones, including a broken leg and broken pelvis plus internal injuries.
1303. East Harlem, NYC. Feb. 4. 58-year-old grandmother hit, carried on the hood of a dark sedan for two blocks, and killed. “I’d like to get behind the wheel and do to him what he did to my wife,” fumed Lopez’s husband, Juan Rojas.
1304. San Jacinto, Cal. Feb. 5. 33-year-old man struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle.
1305. Smyrna, Ga. Feb. 5. Man walking with a teenage relative struck and killed by a dark color or maroon vehicle which fled the scene.
1306. Portland, Oreg. Feb. 4. 24-year-old man riding a mountain bike injured when struck by a car which fled but left silver paint behind. “I cannot imagine, if you had any inkling that you had hit somebody why you wouldn’t stop,” a neighbor said.
1307. Amarillo, Texas. Feb. 5. 26-year-old man struck by brown Lincoln Town Car after apparently road-rage incident involving a gun.
1308. San Jose, Cal. Feb. 6. 18-year-old woman injured after being struck and dragged by a silver or gray minivan or sport-utility vehicle which fled the scene.
1309. Selma, Cal. Feb. 5. 25- to 35-year-old man struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle.

Reno police announced Monday that Thursday’s hit-and-run victim on Longley Lane died from his injuries while the suspected driver in this case was not arrested. Police say on the night of the accident, the suspected driver, an 85-year-old Reno resident, was unaware that she struck a person but rather thought she had struck an unknown object in the roadway.

An Islip Terrace man has been accused of drunken driving with his child in the passenger seat after he struck two pedestrians, one fatally, and fled the scene in Central Islip on Sunday night, Suffolk County police said.
Victor Ventuzelo, 32, was driving a Ford F350 southbound on Lowell Avenue when he struck the victims at the corner of Hemlock Street at 10:30 p.m., police said.

Under current Pennsylvania law, a drunken driver has an incentive to flee the scene of a crash if the person kills someone, a local state legislator says.
If the driver stays at the scene and is arrested, the person faces a minimum of three years in prison.
The penalty is far less – one year in jail – for those who flee and are apprehended after the alcohol is out of their system.
State Rep. Phyllis Mundy, D-120, Kingston, wants to close the loophole. On Friday, she reintroduced legislation, House Bill 227, to change the law relating to hit-and-run crashes that are deadly or cause serious injury. Previous attempts have failed in the state House.
“Drivers involved in an accident have a duty to stop and render aid,” Mundy said. “Drivers who flee the scene of an accident may increase the time it takes for medical personnel to be notified, especially if the crash occurs in an isolated area or late at night. It also could lead to the victim suffering additional injuries or death if no one is there to assist them and alert oncoming traffic.”
