649. Las Vegas. July 18. 16-year-old on a motorcycle dies after being struck by a SUV which fled the scene. Police tracked the female driver down shortly thereafter. “If the female would have stayed at the scene she’d be looking at a misdemeanor, a traffic ticket basically, but because she left a scene causing a death now she’s looking at a felony. She’s looking at potential prison time,” said Detective Bill Redfairn, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Fatal Detail.

655. San Diego. July 18. 69-year-old man suffers serious injuries, including brain bleeding, after being struck by a vehicle which fled the scene. Driver, a 57-year-old woman, later caught when returning to the scene.

After the crash, witnesses say the driver tried to run away, but one man went after him.
“When I saw him run, I began chasing him down the alley way here. I caught him about Falls, Kurt and Sherwood. We tackled him to the ground and held him until police came,” said Kelly Fox, tackled driver.
