An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

3615. Jacksonville, Fla. April 3. Woman in her 30s critically injured when (likely) struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

3616. Milwaukee, Wisc. April 1. 11-year-old boy suffers broken legs when struck by a speeding, dark-colored Pontiac Grand Prix which fled the scene.

3617. Jersey City, NJ. April 2. 40-year-old man injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

3618. Casa Grande, Ariz. April 3. 59-year-old man on bicycle injured when struck by a 2000-06 Ford Explorer which fled the scene.

3619. St. Louis, Mo. April 3. 5-year-old boy injured when struck by a gold truck or SUV which fled the scene.

3620. Memphis, Tenn. April 2. 43-year-old woman killed after being struck by three vehicles (white Bonneville, white van, Jaguar) which fled the scene.

3621. Austin, Texas. April 5. Pedestrian injured when struck by a dark passenger van which fled the scene.

3622. Little Rock, Ark. April 5. Police officer injured when struck by a black 2006 Buick which fled the scene.

3623. Brentwood, NY. April 4. Bicyclist left to die after being struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

3624-25. Lawrence, Kan. April 5. Two bicyclists struck by a vehicle which fled the scene but police may have quickly located.

And I quote (I)…

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – All it took was a matter of seconds. Seconds Stacia Parlanti and her unborn child will never get back. After she was struck and killed by a car while walking on Black and Mahoney Road Saturday night.

Police say the driver then took off, leaving Parlanti, five months pregnant, in the street and a family begging for justice.

“We’re continuing to investigate the accident as much as we can, with what little leads that we do have. It does make it a double fatality because of the unborn child,” said Sergeant Jesus Valle, Santa Maria Police Department.

Greeley (Colo.) police now believe the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash last month that seriously injured a longtime Greeley coach and teacher is a 2000 to 2013 black Kia or Hyundai, according to a news release from the department.

“I mean, I saw him fly up,” Merryman said. “He went underneath their car and then hit our car and I heard another boom.”

Police will pass out flyers near McArdle Road from 5-7 p.m. this evening hoping to gather more leads on a hit and run accident that killed 24-year-old Kimberly Encinia.

On February 11, 2012, Encinia was walking to the Net Church when she was hit by a light colored Nissan Xterra on the 9300 block McArdle Road.

Several officers along with Encinia’s mother will be passing out flyers along McArdle, Nile Drive, Rodd Field Road and Ennis Joslin. According to Commander John Houston, investigators believe there is a high possibility that the driver who hit Encinia lives in the area.

A Coral Springs man who was involved in a hit-and-run in Boynton Beach was soon found passed out in a Walmart parking lot — with a heroin needle in his lap, police said.

Wesley Scott Rubin, 33, was weaving across the lanes of Federal Highway on Wednesday at about 11:30 a.m. when he crashed into the back of another driver’s car, according to an arrest report.

CHICAGO (STMW) – A 70-year-old Far South Side man whose blood alcohol level was “extremely high” when he fatally struck a woman on the South Side in a 2011 hit-and-run is going to prison.

Sam Manyfield pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, and Cook County Judge Stanley Sacks sentenced him to 10 years in prison, according to Cook County State’s Attorney’s office spokeswoman Lisa Gordon.

Manyfield was driving a Jeep Cherokee that struck 52-year-old Yvonne Williams about 8:50 a.m. on July 5, 2011.

And I quote (VII)…

John Clark Gable, son of celebrated Hollywood icon Clark Gable and the actress Kay Williams, was arrested in Malibu Tuesday afternoon after crashing into six parked cars along Pacific Coast Highway. Driving a white Ford Raptor, Gable was apprehended by authorities for suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.

And I quote (VIII)…

CORPUS CHRISTI – The teen critically injured by a hit and run driver on Ayers just over a month ago is continuing to recover. The family of 17-year-old Christian Carrillo shared a picture taken in his hospital room as his grandmother visited.

Christian is now off life support and is able to breathe on his own. The tubes in his lungs have been removed and the pnuemonia and other infections are gone.

However, he did recently have a stroke and is unable to move one side of his body. We’re told the swelling in his brain has caused several problems. His thinking is delayed, but he is making progress.

Right now, Christian is trying to relearn how to swallow. Once he is able to do that Christian and his mother will go to a neuro rehab center in Austin to continue his recovery. The family is looking at the possibility of 2 years in rehab and a lifetime of care for Christian.

An Orlando police officer is under investigation after being accused of hitting a homeless man in January with his police cruiser and then driving away.

Tetriss Nunn, 36, who is homeless, said he was knocked down by the cruiser onto busy Hughey Avenue.

CORPUS CHRISTI — A Nueces County jury sentenced a Corpus Christi woman to 15 years Thursday in the hit-and-run death of a man walking near Interstate 37 last year.

Tabatha Elliott, 33, was found guilty Wednesday of manslaughter, causing an accident involving serious bodily injury and tampering with physical evidence in the May 29 death of Gilbert Reyna, 39.

She was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the manslaughter charge, 10 years for causing an accident involving serious bodily injury and 10 years for tampering with physical evidence.

And I quote (XI)…

A man suspected of fleeing the scene of a fatal motorcycle crash Thursday afternoon has turned himself into police.

Police said a 47-year-old woman driving a motorcycle was killed Thursday afternoon in a collision with a car on West Third Street. The car’s driver and occupants fled the scene of the crash.

Police said Dorian Frazier, 22, turned himself in this morning for the fatal crash.

And I quote (XII)…

A retired D.C. police officer pleaded guilty in a hit-and-run collision with a bicyclist that was caught on camera.

On Aug. 31, 2011, prosecutors said, John W. Diehl, 57, pulled alongside the victim and cursed at him for being in the middle lane of the 3000 block of Rhode Island Avenue NE. Diehl then changed lanes and clipped the cyclist, causing the victim to crash. Diehl kept driving. The bicyclist suffered an injury to his shoulder.

The video was caught on camera by the cyclist’s helmet-mounted camera.
