An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

3425. Las Vegas, Nev. Feb. 3. 53-year-old man fatally struck by an early 2000s grey sedan which fled the scene.

3426-27. Sarasota, Fla. Feb. 2. Two pedestrians injured, one critically, when struck by a silver or dark-colored sedan which fled the scene.

3428. Oklahoma City, Okla. Feb. 4. Pedestrian injured when struck by a silver Jeep or Pathfinder which fled the scene.

3429. Sunrise, Fla. Feb. 3. 49-year-old man on bicycle fatally struck by a silver vehicle which fled the scene.

3430. St. Petersburg, Fla. Feb. 5. Pedestrian seriously injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

3431. Seattle, Wash. Feb. 5. Woman injured when struck by mirror of an SUV which fled the scene.

3432. Oklahoma City, Okla. Feb. 6. 58-year-old man on a bicycle fatally struck by a which fled the scene.

3433. Phoenix, Ariz. Feb. 6. 36-year-old man critically injured when struck by 2007-13 Chevy Tahoe a which fled the scene.

3434. Rapides Parish, La. Feb. 5. 30-year-old woman killed when struck by four vehicles which fled the scene.

And I quote (I)…

Clark died at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa Saturday, where sister Elaine Kaplan visited him a few days earlier.

Her brother was using a breathing tube and unable to speak, but Kaplan said “I told him, ‘They’ll do everything they can to find the person who did this to you,’ and then the tears came down his eyes.”

Police are still looking for that person more than week later, requesting the public’s assistance in finding the vehicle Monday.

And I quote (II)…

SACRAMENTO, CA – What information Sacramento police detectives have in the hit and run deaths of two adult brothers last Friday morning in south Sacramento has not led to an arrest so investigators are asking the public’s help.

Mark Anthony Richard, 40, of Sacramento, and Eddie Eugene Richard, 43, of Henderson, Nevada, were found lying on 24th Street south of Meadowview Road at approximately 2:45 p.m. Police Officer Michele Gigante said the two men had been hit by a vehicle.

Emergency responders pronounced one brother dead at the scene, police said. The other died of his injuries later that day at an area hospital.

Gigante said witnesses said the brothers may have been involved in a fight before they were hit. There was also a pick-up truck of interest in potential connection to the incident. It was described as a white, late 2000s-model, four-wheel drive Chevrolet Silverado. It had a red or orange Z71 emblem on a side panel near tthe truck bed.

Police in Balch Springs have arrested a hit-and-run suspect who struck a firefighter who was directing traffic on LBJ last month. (Supplemental jailhouse report)

Investigators released a photo of teal or turquoise-green paint from the car that was left on the victim’s clothing.

Wellesley police announced today that they would not pursue criminal charges against the driver of an 18-wheel dump truck that struck and killed Alex Motsenigos on Aug. 24.

The 41-year-old resident and avid cyclist was biking on Weston Road shortly before 2 p.m. when he was fatally injured by a passing truck. The truck did not stop, police said.

A Wellesley police report and a wrongful death lawsuit filed by attorney Carlin J. Phillips on behalf of the Motsenigos family last week identified the driver as Dana E.A. McCoomb, an East Wareham resident.

Police have made an arrest in a deadly hit and run in Midtown Manhattan.

Jack Montelbano, of Bayonne, New Jersey, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Authorities say he struck an elderly woman with a dump truck just after 10 a.m. Tuesday as she crossed 41st Street at Ninth Avenue.

And I quote (VI)…

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest of a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a teenager in Beaverton last month.

The Beaverton Police Department, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public’s help in finding the suspect who struck and killed 18-year-old Harley Rocher on Jan. 15, according to police. The Aloha teen was struck shortly before 8 p.m. in the area of Southwest Laurelwood Avenue and Homewood Street.

And I quote (VII)…

A second victim has died as a result of injuries suffered nearly three weeks ago when he was struck by a man that police say was intoxicated when he veered onto a sidewalk in St. Petersburg and fled the scene.

Roger Wurr, 71, of Germany, was pronounced dead this morning at Bayfront Medical Center.

And I quote (VIII)…

CLEVELAND – A 59-year-old woman was hit by a car and thrown into traffic on Cleveland’s west side Wednesday afternoon.

The woman was getting into her car, which was parked on Lorain Avenue near West 65th Street, at about 1 p.m. when she was hit. The victim was flung underneath another car, while her purse was stuck on the mirror of the suspect’s vehicle, Cleveland police said.

And I quote (IX)…

PITTSBURG — Police arrested a 24-year-old Pittsburg man Monday night after he allegedly hit a woman and two small children, injuring all three, then drove off, police said.

The woman and the two children had non-life threatening injuries, Pittsburg police Lt. Ron Raman said. The children, ages 7 and 1, were treated and released Monday night; the woman, 29, was expected to be released from a hospital by Tuesday morning, he added.


And I quote (X)…

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Suffolk police say a teen dressed as the Chick-fil-A cow broke her leg when she was struck by a driver who quickly fled the scene.

Brittany Knight, 19, suits up as the Chick-fil-A cow every day and stands on Main Street in Suffolk promoting the restaurant.

Monday afternoon, Knight was on her way outside when she was struck by a woman picking up food in the drive-thru. She said the woman got out of the car but quickly got back inside, paid for her food and left.

“Accidents do happen, so I’m more disappointed that she didn’t stick around to make sure that I was okay,” Knight said. “She just left me laying on the ground.”

And I quote (XI)…

A Queens man has pleaded guilty for the fatal hit-and-run death of a handyman last summer. Alex Batista, 25, was facing up to 15 years in prison for second-degree manslaughter charges for plowing into Roger Hernandez as he was riding his bicycle on a Sunnyside street on July 19.

Weak sentence.
And I quote (XII)…

Instead of stopping, though, Rechel kept going, keeping his involvement in the accident from police, his family and others for six days.

On Monday, Rechel pleaded guilty to felony hit-and-run for leaving the scene of the accident. He was sentenced to 60 days in prison and at least 16 months of supervised probation. While on probation, he is to serve a day in jail on the anniversary of the accident and on Johnson’s birthday.

And I quote (XIII)…

A Rochester woman who admitted she was drunk and texting when she hit a pedestrian with her car was sentenced in court on Tuesday.

Police say Kashia Houston hit Sherry Argo on Thurston Road back in in November 2011 while Argo was getting out of her parked car. Police say Houston then drove away.

The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office says Houston will serve two and a third to seven years in prison. Her license will also be revoked for a year after she’s released and she will have to have an ignition interlock device installed in her car for a year.
