Police say they found the vehicle at Leigh Meadows apartments on Sunbeam Road. They have not said if anyone has been arrested.
Officers responded to the Harold House Apartments on the Southside just after 5 p.m. Sunday, in reference to a 2-year-old girl being struck by a car.
The child was transported by rescue crews to UF Health Jacksonville, where she was pronounced dead.
Natalie Parker, the 2-year-old’s mother, says she has six other children but says little Janya Solomon was her baby.
She told Action News on Monday morning that she knew who was behind the wheel of the car that hit and killed her baby and she wants justice. “He just hit her and left her in the road like trash. All I want you to do is turn yourself in because my baby is innocent. She doesn’t deserve this. You took my baby, she doesn’t deserve this,” says Parker.
