4597. Hempstead, NY. Dec. 30. 88-year-old woman fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
4598. Calimesa, Cal. Dec. 29. Bicyclist injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
4599. Sparks, Nev. Dec. 30. Man injured when struck by a black Honda Civic which fled the scene.
4600. Springfield, Mass. New Year’s Day. 25-year-old man on bicycle fatally struck by a F-150 Ford pick-up truck, a light color of the year 1998-2002, which fled the scene.
4601. San Francisco, Cal. New Year’s Eve. Pedestrian injured when struck by a dark-colored SUV which fled the scene.
4602. Worchester, Mass. New Year’s Eve. 41-year-old man injured when struck by a small white foreign vehicle which fled the scene.
4603-05. Tucson, Ariz. New Year’s Day. One woman killed, a man and woman injured when struck by a white four-door vehicle which fled the scene and was ditched; post-fight.
4606. Portland, Oreg. New Year’s Eve. 20-year-old man injured when struck by a minivan which fled the scene.
4607. Phoenix, Ariz. New Year’s Day. 50-year-old man fatally struck by a blue SUV which fled the scene.
4608. Prince William County, Md. New Year’s Day. 10-year-old girl injured when struck by a dark full-sized pickup truck which fled the scene.

More than 40 years after he first learned to walk, Gregory Adams is doing so again after a hit-and-run crash broke both his legs.
Police say in September a vehicle hit him in a Tacoma crosswalk and fled, leaving him with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Adams, 45, is anxious to walk again, which would allow him to get back to his lawn care business and to his family.
“It’s not as fast as I would like, but it’s coming along,” he said recently. “My bones have been healed, but I’m still unable to stand and walk. I have to get around in a wheelchair.”
A vehicle described by witnesses as a large white SUV hit Adams Sept. 8 near South 86th and Hosmer streets, throwing him about 50 feet before it swerved to avoid hitting him again after he had landed in the street, Tacoma police said. The SUV then kept on going.
No suspects have been identified, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

A 21-year-old Lufkin woman turned herself into authorities Tuesday afternoon in connection to a Christmas Day hit-and-run accident in which a bicyclist was struck and killed by an automobile on Chestnut Drive.
According to a press release from the Lufkin Police Department, Jennifer Isabel Mireles turned herself in at the Angelina County Jail at approximately 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. She was charged with accident involving death, a second-degree felony.

A bicyclist who was struck in a hit-and-run collision in Panorama City last week has died, officials said Tuesday.
The victim was described only as a 56-year-old man.
The incident happened Dec. 23 around 7 a.m., near the intersection of Lanark Street and Burnet Avenue, and police are asking for the public’s help to find the driver of the car.
“We went back again and canvassed the area, looking for cameras or anything that could help, but it’s residential, so there weren’t any,” said Officer Scott DeWitt of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
“Neighbors heard the crash, but when they came out the car was gone. We’re going to find this person if they tell someone else about it, who might tell us.”

Los Angeles police are investigating a hit-and-run in Pacific Palisades that killed a young film director whose father and grandfather are federal court judges.
David Pregerson, 23, was hit by an unknown driver Dec. 27 about 3 a.m. on Chautauqua Boulevard north of Borgos Place. The driver never stopped to render aid and the UCLA graduate was found by a passerby on the tree-lined residential street. Pregerson succumbed to his numerous injuries at UCLA Medical Center on Dec. 31.
Since graduating from UCLA, Pregerson had begun working on movies and television shows, including the Web-based soap opera series “The Bay.” He was the son of U.S. District Court Judge Dean Pregerson and grandson of U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Harry Pregerson.
LAPD West Traffic detectives have few clues and are looking for witnesses to the deadly incident.
