KENMORE, Wash. — The person who called 911 to report a body found on a residential Kenmore street Monday was the driver who was later arrested for the fatal hit-and-run, the King County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Tuesday.
Spokesperson Cindi West said there was no dog walker, as earlier reports indicated. It was unknown if the driver had identified herself when she called 911 or if she pretended to be a non-involved party.
A judge set bail at $25,000 for the 24-year-old female driver, who waived her appearance at Tuesday’s bail hearing.

A Valley High School graduate who had stayed in the Des Moines area to care for his sick mother was killed by an allegedly drunken driver Monday night.
Jeff Crispin was driving home from work when his Honda Civic was T-boned by a Dodge Ram pickup truck, West Des Moines police said. The 29-year-old Windsor Heights native died at the scene.

BETHEL — Witnesses have provided police with a better description of the car and driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that led to the death of a cyclist from Weston on Sunday, at least the third fatal bicycle-involved crash in the area since 2008.

A 45-year-old woman from the city’s Fern Rock section surrendered to Philadelphia Police on Thursday and was charged in connection with the fatal Oct. 4 hit-and-run of Ceeanna Pate in Nicetown.

Officials said, 58-year-old Michael Brandt turned himself in Wednesday and has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash that killed 62-year-old Bernard Williams.

Nearly six years after Brian Birdsong, 30, was killed in a hit-and-run outside a Lake Charles nightclub, the crime remains unsolved.
It happened Halloween night 2007 outside OB’s Bar & Grill. Birdsong was crossing Ryan Street to the Home Furniture Parking lot when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. The driver of the pickup truck never stopped.
Paula Doucett was at the bar that night and witnessed what happened moments after.
“When I got there, I saw a lot of traffic and I saw a lot of cops, the ambulance, people were everywhere,” recalled Doucett. “It was so bad because the person was just laying there in the middle of the street and they were trying to revive him.”

Police still have not found the driver of the vehicle that hit 24-year old Kimberly Encinia, and there have not been any new leads in the case. For her mother, Mary Encinia, the grieving process continues.
