4175. North Bergen, NJ. Sept. 22. 17-year-old male injured when struck by a red car which fled the scene.
4176. Berlin, Md. Man fatally struck by a red Ford full-size pickup (make 2009-2013) which fled the scene.
4177. Detroit, Mich. Sept. 24. 8-year-old boy killed when struck by a late 90s Ford Explorer which fled the scene but was later found.
4178. Tulsa, Okla. Sept. 24. 16-year-old male injured when struck by a black truck which fled the scene.

CHICO — A 20-year-old female bicycle rider is in critical condition this morning following an alleged hit-and-run collision Sunday evening on Nord Avenue at Big Chico Creek.
Riley Hoover, the 19-year-old who allegedly drove the 2009 GMC Envoy that struck the cyclist, has been arrested under suspicion of felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence causing grave bodily injury, according to Sgt. George Laver of Chico Police’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
The cyclist, identified as Kristina Chesterman of Livermore, was riding north in the northbound bike lane on the bridge when she was struck by the Envoy, Laver said. The northbound vehicle had veered into the Chesterman’s lane for some reason, he said. (UPDATE: Chesterman died.)

Muskegon police have released the names of two of the three 20-year-olds who were killed in a shooting attack outside a party at a social club.
Police say four others were wounded in the attack about 2 a.m. Sunday. They said earlier that there were five others with injuries.
Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson tells WZZM 13 that Antonio Raglin has been jailed in the incident, but it is not yet known what his role was in the shooting. He was also wounded in the shooting.
Raglin was wanted as a suspect for backing his vehicle into a mother and baby stroller in Muskegon in June that was caught on surveillance video.

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) – A Kokomo man was charged Monday for a deadly hit-and-run after police found a confession letter when the man attempted suicide, according to court documents.
Randall Rector was charged with reckless homicide, a Class C felony, and two counts of failure to stop after accident resulting in death, one a Class C felony and one a Class D felony.
On Saturday, officers were called to Rector’s house after he attempted suicide and called for help, according to the probable cause affidavit. When they arrived, they found a letter addressed to police that confessed to the hit-and-run crash. In the letter, Rector said he didn’t see the victim and he had vision problems, so he kept quiet and hid the vehicle in his garage.
Two teens were on a moped Sept. 12 when it was hit by an SUV. Christian Reede, 13, later died from his injuries. The other person on the moped wasn’t as badly hurt.

Police in Oakland said they have arrested a driver who hit and killed a good samaritan who was helping a stranded driver.

WEST OCEAN CITY — The man killed in a West Ocean City hit-and-run was the target of a federal retail counterfeiting case.
Maryland State Police identified the struck pedestrian killed last week on Route 50 as Jerold Lee Sharoff, 58, of West Ocean City.
According to federal prosecutors, Sharoff had been indicted for conspiring and trafficking in counterfeit goods and counterfeit labels on the Boardwalk two summers ago.

An Auburn fan was arrested in Louisiana on Friday night after he allegedly tried to play the video game “Grand Theft Auto” in real life.
Zachary Burgess, 33, of Hoover, is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, kidnapping and nine counts of hit and run.
Police in Baton Rouge say Burgess admitted to them that he wanted to see what “Grand Theft Auto” would be like in real life. …
Burgess is a member of the Auburn University lacrosse team.

A Savannah man faces several charges and remains hospitalized after police say he fled the scene of two wrecks with two young children in his car Tuesday night.

The name of the victim in Wednesday night’s fatal hit and run on Fruit near McKinley has been released. 50 year old Loterlo Davis, sr. died at the scene in the accident that also left two children injured. Police now say the suspect, 19 year old Maurice Fields was related to the kids. Fields is also accused of leaving one of the kids pinned inside the car.

An Austin man has been charged in a hit-and-run crash at the Domain shopping center earlier this year after a witness took a cell phone photo of his vehicle, according to an arrest affidavit released Thursday.
Brandon Jarrod Brown, 28, has been charged with failure to stop and render aid after police say he struck a woman who was leaving Dick’s Sporting Goods with her father shortly before 5 p.m. Feb. 13, the affidavit said.
The woman suffered serious head and leg injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the document said.

There were an estimated 20,000 hit-and-run crashes in the city of Los Angeles in the past five years, and the collisions were fatal in roughly 1/3 of those cases, a police commission analysis revealed.
The grim statistics come as City Councilman Joe Buscaino announced plans Thursday to ask the City Council to establish a standing $50,000 reward in deadly hit-and-run cases.
Buscaino said he plans to immediately make a motion Friday morning for a $50,000 reward in one case, that of Manuel Ayala, who was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Sept. 16 in Wilmington.

A Hereford commercial truck driver charged with causing a fatal wreck Friday afternoon was posting updates to Facebook while in police custody.
“Wow today turned (expletive deleted) real fast,” Michael Blayne Kirk wrote in a status update posted at 3:42 p.m. The post includes three photos taken from the back of a police cruiser. Police vehicles are visible in the photos.
Three Borger residents died in the wreck and Kirk, 22, has been charged with three counts of accident causing serious bodily injury or death after police said he forced a car to drive off of Lakeside Drive and strike a utility pole.

Allysen Vallianos, 40, of Budd Lake, was charged with DWI in a school zone, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, careless driving and failure to report an accident.
