4048. Southwest Miami-Dade, Fla. Aug. 17. 51-year-old man critically injured when struck by a Volvo which fled the scene.
4049. Brighton, Mich. Aug. 17. 40-year-old woman on bicycle struck by a 2001-2002 Chrysler Sebring or Dodge Stratus which fled the scene.
4050-51. Myrtle Beach, SC. Aug. 17. 21-year-old man killed and another injured when their moped was struck by a newer model Nissan Pathfinder SUV which fled the scene.
4052. Queens, NY. Aug. 18. Police officer injured when struck by a white Pontiac SUV with New Jersey plates which fled the scene.
4053. Studio City, Cal. Aug. 17. 35-year-old man fatally struck by a white Mercedes which fled the scene.
4054. Springfield, Ill. Aug. 16. 65-year-old man injured when struck by an older-model grey vehicle which fled the scene.
4055. Waldorf, Md. Aug. 17. 34-year-old man in wheelchair critically injured when struck by a white Ford truck which fled the scene. (Update: Driver found)
4056. Sherman Oaks, Cal. Aug. 18. 22-year-old man fatally struck by a silver Hyundai which fled the scene.
4057. Southaven, Tenn. Aug. 16. 3-year-old girl suffers minor injuries when struck by a small, white car which fled the scene.
4058. Columbus, Ohio. Aug. 18. Pedestrian seriously injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
4059. Beech Grove, Ind. Aug. 18. Man fatally struck by a a late ‘90s model station wagon, a Mercury Sable or Ford Taurus which fled the scene.

Austin (KXAN) – It’s a rising problem here in town; hit and run crashes – many of them fatal. Since 2012 there have been more than 600 hit and run accidents.
Austin Police are still looking for a hit and run suspect that ran over a cyclist with a disability in front of a Dairy Queen last month.
Patricia Rinehart says she will never forget the phone call alerting that her brother had been involved in a terrible accident.
“He was doing the right thing at the wrong time,” said Rinehart. “My brother had a broken leg 7 broken ribs and a punctured kidney.”
Surveillance video at the Dairy Queen on North Lamar near Payton Gin Road caught the entire accident on tape.

Shontelle Harvey, 41, was arrested for homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence and other charges in connection with the death of Charles Britt, 67, of Penn Hills.

A man critically injured in a hit-and-run accident late Sunday in Beech Grove has died following a bizarre chain of events.
Ronald Vanatta, 33, Indianapolis, fell out of a pickup truck and was struck by another vehicle. Earlier the same day he was stabbed at a bar fight and later arrested on a preliminary charge of disorderly conduct after causing a disturbance at Wishard Memorial Hospital, according to police reports.
Vanatta fell out of the pickup truck about 11 p.m. Sunday in the 3700 block of Emerson Avenue. He was struck by a dark-colored station wagon, a woman accompanying him told police.

“We respond to every one. We just can’t investigate every one,” Stanford said. “It’s not that it’s not important, because it is. But that’s just the harsh reality of it: We have a city that has a lot more going on than auto accidents, so we have to dedicate more of our time to making our inner-city streets safer from violence.”
