1768. Clarksburg, WV. Aug. 4. Man in his 30s airlifted to a hospital after being struck by a pick-up truck which fled the scene.
1769. Taunton, Mass. Aug. 5. Teenager riding a skateboard struck and killed by a vehicle which did not stop, Bristol County prosecutors said Friday. Police have not released a description of the hit-and run-vehicle. Taunton fire officials said a woman in another car tried to avoid the crash and hit a guard rail.
1770. New York City, NY. Aug. 6. 22-year-old motorcyclist struck and killed by white Honda “which slammed into him man from behind, launching him into the intersection. A gray 1995 Chevy Blazer then ran over the man. The driver remained on the scene but was arrested for driving while intoxicated, cops said.”
1771. Richland Co, SC. Aug. 6. 20-year-old male hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries after being struck by a dark vehicle which fled the scene.
1772. Aliquippa, Pa. Aug. 4. 41-year-old man airlifted to hospital after being struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled but left broken glass and the inner part of a passenger-side door mirror behind. Police have asked body shops to notify them if anyone brings in a vehicle with a damaged side mirror.
1773. Cicero, NY. Aug. 5. 14-year-old boy injured when, while cross the street with his 7-year-old sister, he was struck by a silver or grey Honda SUV which fled the scene.
1774. Bakersfield, Cal. Aug. 6. 30-year-old man badly injured when struck by a dark (possibly) Jeep Cherokee after he left a nightclub.
1775. Highland Heights, Tenn. Aug. 5. 43-year-old man killed when struck by a small, dark-colored pickup which fled the scene.
1776. Chicago. Aug. 6. Two men in their 20s struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene near Lollapalooza. Both hospitalized.
1777. Altoona, Pa. Aug. 5. Pregnant woman struck by a vehicle in an Altoona Bible Institute parking lot Friday afternoon. … “She said the baby was OK, but she had some cuts and bruises on her legs,” said Hazenstab, whose store is feet away from Altoona Bible Institute’s parking lot. … A female driver in a green Grand Am reportedly targeted two women who were speaking with the pregnant woman in the Altoona Bible Institute parking lot, the employee said. “She told me the conflict was about $90.”

In a bizarre turn of events, the woman accused of crashing into a Marine war hero while he was on his motorcycle is also the wife of a Marine. KFMB-TV cameras were in the courtroom yesterday when prosecutors announced 21-year-old Jessica Bloom had a blood alcohol level of .37 (that’s not a misprint) when she hit Gunnery Sergeant Dave Smith from behind with her vehicle, then fled the scene to her apartment complex.

FORT WALTON BEACH — Debris from a crepe myrtle tree led to the arrest of a suspect in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday, according to police. The wreck occurred at the corner of Beal Parkway and U.S. Highway 98 at 6:33 p.m. and sent an 18-year-old Texas girl to the hospital. Police have charged 23-year-old Dara J. Bass of Fort Walton Beach with leaving the scene of a crash involving personal injury.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – The victim of a hit and run crash in Woonsocket last month has died from her injuries. And as a result, the suspected drunk driver who is accused of hitting her and leaving her for dead could soon face upgraded charges.
46-year-old Suzanne Potter was riding her bicycle at the corner of Bernon and Grove Streets on July 1st, when police say she was struck by car driven by Peter Major of Pawtucket.

An Oakdale man pleaded guilty today to charges related to the a 2008 hit-and-run accident in Montville that claimed the life of a 59-year-old man who was struck by a car while crossing the street in front of Mohegan Sun Casino. Jeffrey Socha , 24, pleaded guilty to charges of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and evading responsibility as part of a plea agreement that carries a sentence of 20 months in prison and three years of probation.

Upper Southampton funeral director and Bucks County Deputy Coroner John McGhee was the driver of a car that hit a teen last month and left the scene, police said Friday.
An investigation showed that the victim caused the accident because she had been drinking alcohol and was in the middle of Maple Avenue when she was hit, Upper Southampton Chief Ron MacPherson said in a press release.

Police say they have arrested a man who they believe struck and killed an eight-year-old Okmulgee girl nearly two years ago. Piper Haney died on August 27, 2009, a week after she was struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle. The person who hit her didn’t stop.
For two years, investigators worked tirelessly to find the person responsible, chasing dozens of leads in the case. At one point early in the investigation, detectives felt confident they had located the vehicle involved, but could never identify a driver.
Recently, they were able to gather enough evidence to support a warrant. Friday, police arrested 43-year-old Kevin R. Taylor of Okmulgee, who is charged with leaving the scene of a fatality accident.

A Pleasantville woman remains hopeful that the hit-and-run driver who left her son hospitalized will surrender to police.
Stanford Walker IV still cannot breathe unassisted, and remains in a sedated state. He’s listed in critical condition at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus in Atlantic City, after he was struck by a vehicle July 26.

Lambo, a longtime Montebello resident and co-founder of Montebello’s “Ashiya Sister Cities” organization, was walking her dog, Barney, across the street when she was struck by a pickup truck about 6 p.m., investigators said.
According to Montbello police, a passenger got out of the truck and untangled Lambo’s walker from the front bumper before returning to the truck, which left the scene. The passenger has not been found.
