A man whose identity and age have not been released was driving a white Hyundai Tiburon north in the 12400 block of South Post Oak about 2:50 a.m.
As he took the South Post Oak bridge over Main, he hit a median damaging his front left tire, police said.
The victim stopped the car near the top of the bridge to change the tire, said John Cannon, a spokesman for the Houston Police Department.
A woman, who was a passenger in the car, apparently argued with the man about changing the tire in traffic and began walking away. She told authorities the man was kicking the car and the blown tire, then he walked into another lane where he was hit by a van.
The van’s driver stopped, told another passenger in the Hyundai to call 911, and then fled.
