2388. Philadelphia, Pa. March. 18. Polina Kadiyska, a 22-year-old ballerina from Bulgaria, was struck and killed by an Audi which fled the scene. The driver was later arrested when he returned to the vehicle to retrieve possessions.
2389. Decatur, Ga. March 15. 12-year-old girl injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
2390. Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. March 18. 5-year-old riding a battery-operated car toy killed when struck by a white cargo van driving which fled. (Update: Arrest)
2391-92. South Bend, Ind. March 18. Man and a woman hospitalized after being struck by a white sedan which fled the scene.
2393. Bay City, Mich. 59-year-old man struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
2394. Camden, NJ. March 17. 32-year-old man struck and killed by a dark SUV, believed to be a mid to late 1990s dark blue or black GMS Yukon or Chevrolet Tahoe. 2395. Midland, Texas. March 18. Man injured when a white vehicle that struck a ladder, causing a cable contractor to fall about 30 feet to the ground.
2396. San Francisco, Cal. March 19. 35-year-old injured when struck by a white sedan, possibly from a Japanese manufacturer, believed to have major front-end damage, and had black rims and tinted windows, which fled the scene.
2397. Chicago Heights, Ill. March 17. 17-year-old high school student injured when struck by a brown or maroon Ford Explorer which fled.

It’s happened too much already this year, and too often last year. Bakersfield police are investigating five cases where pedestrians were killed by a hit-and-run driver.
The victims’ loved ones want to know why can’t these drivers be tracked down.
“The investigators that are assigned to this take each of these cases very personally,” Police Sgt. Allan Abney told Eyewitness News. He said they need enough information to link a driver to a crash, and they don’t stop looking for it.

LORAIN, Ohio – Police made an arrest after a child was struck by a vehicle on Charleston Avenue on Sunday afternoon. John Carter, 37, is charged with driving under suspension, leaving a scene, improper backing and felony aggravated vehicular assault.
According to police, Carter struck a two-year-old boy with his car while he was backing out of a driveway. “There was a lot of kids outside playing and apparently he didn’t see this child behind his car and backed-up and hit him and got out to see what was going on but just decided – for whatever reason – to leave,” said Lt. Mark Carpentiere.

CLIFTON — Authorities are looking for a sliver or gray BMW made in 2006 or later in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed two pedestrians on Route 46 Saturday, police said.
The car likely would have front-end damage, authorities said. Police released the description of the car on Monday, and it is the only information investigators have about the vehicle responsible in the deaths, said Clifton Sgt. Michael Bienkowsi.
Authorities say that the two victims — Jhasleidy Benjumea-Bastidas, 28, of Passaic, and Jose Fernandez-Mineya, 35, of Brooklyn — were struck shortly before 4 a.m. on Saturday.

A 23-year-old man charged in a fatal hit-and-run in Rockville last year pleaded guilty to homicide by motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in Montgomery County Circuit Court.
Michael Charles Dalton Jr., who lived in College Park at the time of the collision but is from Pennsylvania, faces as many as 10 years in jail for the homicide charge, as well as the charge for failing to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death, according to Dalton’s plea agreement filed before county Judge Sharon V. Burrell on March 1.

A driver was pinned in his vehicle Saturday night after allegedly hitting another car and then slamming into a garage on Marsh Hawk Court in a failed attempt to flee, police said.

University of Richmond football player Jimmy Speros’s trial is set for 9:30 a.m. on June 11 following his preliminary hearing in the John Marshall Courts Building this morning. The June 11 trial will also be held in the John Marshall Courts Building.
Speros, a junior offensive lineman, was arrested on Feb. 29 on felony charges of a hit-and-run causing personal injury and released the same day on a $3,500 unsecured bond, Dionne Waugh of the Public Affairs Unit of the Richmond Police Department said.
