1584. Memphis, Tenn. May 25. 17-year-old high school football star seriously injured when struck by two vehicles drag racing, and fleeing, with their lights off. “When I got there, he was lying on the ground, bleeding and they told me he was hit by a car,” said Wrechal Currie.
1585. Panama City Beach, Fla. May 26. 47-year-old woman struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
1586. Houston. May 27. Jogger killed when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
1587. Ukiah, Cal. May 27. Man and son suffer non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a small, Nissan pick-up which took off.
1588. Plumstead, Pa. May 29. 65-year-old man participating in a bike rally from New York to Quakertown, Pa. killed when struck by a white Chevy or GMC, early to mid 2000’s model which fled the scene. If you saw this vehicle or have further information, you are urged to call Plumsted Township Police at 215-766-8740.
1589. Milford, Ohio. May 29. 41-year-old man struck and killed by a white Ford F-150 that fled the scene.

In March, 2009 Maurice Jones was walking home when he was hit and killed by a driver who left an item behind before fleeing the scene.
“Initially there was a note left with him,” explained detective John Jordan with the League City Police Department.
Investigators said a woman wrote a note, apologizing for what she had done.
“They said that they were sorry and that they had a family, but he had one (as well),” said Roberta Jones, Maurice’s mother. “You know, he was my family because he was my everything.”

Police on Friday arrested a 23-year-old aide to a state lawmaker in the hit-and-run crash in West Austin that left one woman dead. Authorities said Gabrielle Jane Nestande faces third-degree felony charges of failure to stop and render aid to the victim of the crash.

A Napa man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of brandishing a pick after he allegedly swung and hit an SUV on Laurel Street, police said. At about 3:15 p.m., Ricardo Solano allegedly tried to run a person down with his car in the 1300 block of Laurel Street while he was drunk, Napa Police said. Solano missed and instead hit a house instead, knocking the chimney loose before fleeing the scene, police said.

At the time he suffered fatal injuries in a Thursday night hit-and-run, a Pinconning man was free on bond and facing several sexual assault charges.
Richard A. Lesniak Sr., 64, was apparently chasing his dog when he entered the southbound lanes of M-13 near Wetters Road in Kawkawlin Township around 10:20 p.m. A vehicle struck him and continued on its way, Bay County Sheriff’s deputies report.

A new push is underway Thursday night to find the driver who struck and killed a woman in North Riverside March 31. Elaine Gorny, 65, died of her injuries the night she was hit at 25th and Des Plaines. The driver ran a red light, hit Gorny and kept going.

A 19-year-old Fort Carson soldier was killed Friday night in a hit-and-run crash that also left two others injured, police said.
The 10 p.m. crash occured when a green sedan travelling west on Randall Road at the intersection with Rangewood Drive turned left in front of two southbound motorcycles, Colorado Springs police said.
The second motorcyclist, also a soldier, and his female passenger, were taken to an area hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

INDIANAPOLIS – A Metro Police officer was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while directing traffic race day morning.

Using new security cameras, police have tracked down a car that struck a traffic enforcement officer in a Lower Manhattan hit-and-run accident earlier this month.
Authorities say the license plate of the involved BMW was first caught by a camera at the Manhattan Bridge seconds before the May 17 accident. Then, a special plate-reading camera mounted on a police car caught the license was scanning vehicles on the Upper East Side on Friday when it identified the BMW.

LAUDERDALE LAKES— Trapped in the wreckage of her car, Miriam Reid could only reach the cell phone she kept on a cord around her neck. She called her older brother. “Come save me,” said the 20-year-old nursing student.
From the family’s house just blocks away, Emmanuel Reid, 24, and his brother David, 22, rushed to the 4800 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard. They saw their sister pinned in a mass of twisted metal.

“They took off, got into their car, and the officer asked them to get out the car,” Latiolais said. “One of the suspects then backed up the car and struck the officer multiple times.”
Latiolais said once one suspect got out the vehicle, a second woman got behind the wheel and again drove into the officer before hitting several other vehicles and driving from the scene. The officer was not seriously injured, Latiolais said.
