An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.
2270. El Mirage, Ariz. Feb. 4. 37-year-old woman suffers serious head injury when struck by a newer-model, 2-door, white Mitsubishi Eclipse which fled the scene. (Update: The victim died.)
2271. Columbus, Ohio. Feb. 2. 44-year-old man dies after being struck by a dark-colored SUV, which fled the scene, and a 1997 Buick LeSabre, which did not.
2272. Lubbock, Texas. Feb. 3. Man injured after being struck by two unidentified vehicles which fled the scene.
2273. Daly City, Cal. Feb. 4. 27-year-old man struck and killed by a newer dark-blue Prius which fled the scene.
2274. Simmesport, La. Feb. 4. 36-year-old man struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
2275. Santa Ana, Cal. Feb. 4. 55 year-old Navy struck and killed by a white Chevy pickup and green Mustang convertible, both of which fled the scene.
2276-78. Ventura, Cal. Feb. 4. Three girls (6, 8 and a 10 years old) injured when a silver or gray older model possibly a Honda or Toyota with tinted windows jumped the curb onto the bike path on which they were walking.
2279. Indianapolis, Ind. Feb. 4. 22-year-old woman on scooter critically injured struck by a white, four-door car with high taillights which fled the scene.

NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) — An accused hit and run driver has turned himself in exactly two months after a deadly incident. 25-year-old Joshua Green had just stepped into the street when an SUV ran him over and sped away. His friends tried to catch the driver at the time, but couldn’t keep up.
This was a valiant search not only for police, but also by the victim’s mother. She passed out more than 500 flyers. She was just praying for a break in this case and it seems her prayers were answered.
“The first thing he said was ‘This is the Northville Police’, and at that moment, I began to feel a little weak, and he said, ‘We’ve found the car.’ Then my knees buckled,” said Shirley Green, the victim’s mother.

Perez said that after he witnessed the crash, he drove his 1100cc Suzuki motorcycle from the site at East Eighth Street and San Jacinto Boulevard and chased the Impala.
Perez said he briefly lost sight of the driver, but then heard a crash and caught up. Perez pulled up close to the car, he said, yelling at the driver to get out.
The driver stopped to look at him, Perez said, then crashed around West 10th and Rio Grande streets before coming to a stop.
Perez said he reached into the car to pull out the driver, who appeared to be intoxicated and was vomiting. Using a belt, he hogtied the man and detained him until police arrived.
“I wanted to make sure he wasn’t going anywhere,” Perez said.

A 70-year-old Tiverton man who was struck while walking near the corner of Main Road and Hilton Street has died from his injuries. Tiverton Police say John W. Kieron pased away after being removed from life support.

The case of a deadly hit-and-run came to a close with a 90-day sentence in a workhouse, but the family of the 85-year-old victim who was killed while bringing dinner to her husband in a nursing room say it’s not enough.
Dorothy Hanson was walking a spaghetti dinner just a few blocks when she was struck while crossing Old Shakopee Road. The man driving the truck — 55-year-old Mark Lindgren — kept going, and he didn’t turn himself in for five days. When he did, he told police he didn’t realize he had hit a person.

INDIO, Calif. — A Desert Hot Springs police officer who was sent to a man’s home to investigate a hit-and-run crash testified today that he forced the resident to the ground after seeing a sergeant grab one of the man’s arms.
“You used force against Edward Moore, right?” asked Jerry Steering, one of Moore’s attorneys.
“Yes, I did,” Officer Michael Valentich said.

An Alaska woman was in custody Monday after allegedly driving under the influence and striking and injuring three bicyclists in Seal Beach.

Tulsa police have responded to 11 fatal auto-pedestrian accidents since January 2011 and still have not found the drivers involved in three of the incidents.

To Hirsch, this is hallowed ground, Lincoln Park West and Belden Avenue, across from Lincoln Park Zoo.
It’s the crosswalk where his 4-year-old daughter, Maya, breathed her last breath May 20, 2006, when she was ripped from her mother’s hand by a hit-and-run driver who — looking straight ahead — missed the stop sign, witnesses told police. Maya’s 6-year-old brother and her mother were injured.
Almost six years after the crash that killed the girl, a Cook County Circuit judge Monday is expected to set a trial date in the Hirsch family’s lawsuit against two defendants: the estate of the 57-year-old driver, Michael Roth, who died in prison while serving an eight-year sentence for leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and the city of Chicago, which the lawsuit alleges contributed to Maya’s death by improperly placing traffic signs at the busy pedestrian crossing and failing to maintain visible pavement markings.
