2260. Portland, Ore. Jan. 26. 26-year-old man struck and killed by a two-wheel drive, 1997 to 2000 Toyota Tacoma which fled the scene.
2261. Corpus Christi, Texas. Feb. 1. Man injured when struck by a red truck or van which fled the scene.
2262. Lakewood, Colo. Feb. 1. Woman struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
2263-64. Salt Lake City, Utah. Feb. 2. 7- and 11-year-old boys hospitalized when struck by a full-size blue van which fled the scene. The boys … suffered only minor injuries. “We’re talking about bumps, bruises, scratches, that sort of thing,” McGowan said.
2265. Kittanning, Pa. Feb. 2. State trooper injured when struck by a dark vehicle which fled the scene.
2266. Honolulu, Hawaii. Feb. 2. 54-year-old woman injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
2267. Brooklyn, NY. Feb. 1. 47-year-old man critically injured when struck by a silver Nissan which fled the scene. Vehicle was later recovered. Driver has not been found.
2268. Miami Gardens, Fla. Feb. 2. 11-year-old boy who darted out in front of traffic in front of Carol City Middle School was hit by a white Nissan Maxima whose driver did not stop.
2269. Quogue Village, NY. Feb. 1. Department of Public Works employee suffers non-life-threatening injuries when struck by a green minivan — possibly a Dodge Caravan or Voyager — which fled.

Under the plea agreement, prosecutor James Haasch will recommend that Kayla M. Bower serve six years in prison and receive 12 years of extended supervision on two counts of injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle and one count of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

A pregnant woman involved in the hit-and-run death of a local pastor was sentenced Monday. In an emotional hearing, Jacqueline Medrano pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and making a false statement to police during an investigation into the death of Max New. She was sentenced to two years in prison for both counts, to be served concurrently.

Wednesday marked one year to the day since 16-year-old Victoria Rose Peterson was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver as she walked to school.
There have been no arrests, and police said Wednesday there were no new leads in the case. A witness at the time described the driver as a female with long, straight, dark hair driving a white, extended cab or quad cab full-sized pickup with a black front grill and bumper.
To date, that’s the only information regarding the driver and vehicle.

SPRINGFIELD – A Springfield judge is reviewing the case of alleged hit-and-run driver Meredith Nilan, the daughter of Berkshire Superior Court Probation Chief Clifford J. Nilan, after a magistrate’s hearing last month failed to return criminal charges against the Pittsfield woman.
The Pittsfield Police Department had appealed the ruling by Westfield District Court Assistant Clerk-Magistrate Nathan A. Byrnes, who didn’t find probable cause to criminally charge Meredith Nilan, 24, in connection with a Dec. 8, 2011, hit-and-run collision that seriously injured jogger Peter Moore, 45, of Pittsfield.

An arrest has been made in this weekend’s hit and run pedestrian accident in Northgate.
College Station police arrested Morgan Head, a 22 year old Texas A&M student, this afternoon who confessed to being the driver of the vehicle. She was arrested for two counts of failure to stop and render aid.
“Once she was identified, she was cooperative. She knew that she had struck something because of her mirror, but she did not know she struck a person. That was her statement,” said Lt. Steve Brock with the College Station Police Department.

AUSTIN (AP) – Texas soccer player Kylie Doniak was in critical condition Friday after being struck by a car in downtown Austin, Texas. Police say Doniak was in a group crossing the street shortly after 2 a.m. Friday when a car ran a stop light. Police spokeswoman Veneza Aguinaga said the car sped away, but eventually pulled over and the driver was restrained by a witness until police could arrive.

John Kieron of Tiverton, the 70-year-old victim of a hit-and-run more than two months ago, died Friday after being removed from life support at Rhode Island Hospital. Tiverton detectives continue to search for the driver of the vehicle that struck Kieron in Tiverton on Nov. 23.

Bud Hanson’s doctors were confident he could return home from the Bloomington nursing home where he was receiving kidney dialysis in the fall of 2010.
But his health quickly went south when he received word that his wife, Dorothy, had been killed by a hit-and-run driver just moments after she brought him a homemade spaghetti dinner to Martin Luther Care Center. He died nine days later. Both were 85.
Before he was ordered to spend three months in the workhouse Friday, driver Mark Wayne Lindgren, 55, of Bloomington acknowledged for the first time what he did to both lives: He turned to the Hanson family and apologized.
“This has changed me quite a bit in the way I treat people,” he said at his sentencing. “We all have people in our lives like the Hansons. I think about the accident every day.”

A night at a south-side bar had a dramatic and violent ending when five people were hit by a car in the bar’s parking lot.
San Antonio police said it was no accident. They said the hit-and-run stemmed from an argument between two women around 2:30 a.m. outside Strokers, in the 700 block of Roosevelt.
“I’ve never seen anything like that,” said Michael Lopez, a bar employee.

An Irvington Ky. man convicted in a deadly hit-and-run case has been released from prison early, leaving the victim’s parents furious. Miranda Zepeda, 13, was killed nearly three years ago. Justin Basham, 26, was sentenced to five years in jail in March 2010, for leaving the scene of a deadly accident and tampering with physical evidence.

MEMPHIS, TN – (WMC-TV) – A man charged with killing a four-year-old girl in a hit and run plans to plead guilty. Friday, the parents of four-year-old Jordan Mathis said the healing process is very slow and painful. “Some days are better than others,” said mother Kaylonie Mathis. “There’s no words to explain how we feel.”
