2250. Brooklyn, NY. Jan. 26. 58-year-old “amazingly nice person, incredibly always with a smile on his face” man fatally struck a gray van which remained at the scene and a light-colored sedan which sped away.
2251. Harrisburg, Pa. Jan. 28. 41-year-old man struck and killed by a mid-1990s Saturn which fled, as he was riding home from work. (H/T @polkpanther) (Update: Driver surrenders)
2252. Warminster, Pa. Jan. 27. Unidentified man struck by unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
2253. Jacksonville, Fla. Jan. 28. Unidentified woman struck and critically injured by an SUV which fled the scene.
2254. Charleston, WV. Jan. 27. 47-year-old man struck and killed; a “witness thought the vehicle’s taillights looked something like a Dodge Neon, but the witness was not sure.”
2255. Portland, Ore. Jan. 28. Man struck and killed by a dark truck or SUV which fled the scene.
2256. Santa Ana, Cal. Jan. 28. Unidentified man killed when struck by a white Chevrolet truck and a late model green Ford Mustang convertible with a black top, both of which fled the scene.
2257. Hawthorne, Cal. Jan. 29. 61-year-old man injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
2258. St. Louis, Mo. Jan. 29. 38-year-old woman struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
2259. Stockton, Cal. Jan. 30. 17-year-old girl walking to school airlifted to hospital after when she was hit by a late model white Ford Mustang which fled the scene.

MONROVIA – A 12-year-old girl was fighting for her life at a hospital Saturday after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing Huntington Drive, authorities said. After allegedly fleeing the scene of the crash, police tracked down and arrested Emma Tapia-Gonzalez, 23, of Monrovia on suspicion of hit-and-run, Monrovia police Lt. Nels Ortlund said. She does not have a driver’s license.

The jury found that Moyle, 29, intentionally drove his Ford Mustang at speeds of up to 85 mph and crashed into a Subaru containing a family of complete strangers on Laurel Street in Port Angeles on April 13, 2011. The driver of the Subaru, Stewart Baker, of Port Angeles, resembled a man Moyle was out to get, Lundwall said during closing arguments.

The Ford collided with a vehicle driven by a woman who was four months pregnant, police said. As a result of the impact, the woman lost the baby.
The Ford was occupied by two white males, ages 20 to 25 years, police said. The SUV is believed to have sustained slight to moderate front-end damage. When last seen, it was heading down Hudson Bridge toward I-75.
The driver of the Ford faces charges of hit-and-run and second-degree feticide, police said.

Blanca Contreras was scheduled to appear in Waltham District Court on Thursday, Jan. 26 for a pre-trial hearing, but the Guatemalan native was nowhere near the building.
The 29-year-old has been detained in Framingham, according to her attorney Gerard Walsh, since she was arrested on Thanksgiving eve last year for an alleged hit-and-run that killed 39-year-old Waltham resident Scott “Scotty” Coxall.
Custody of Contreras was recently transferred to United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after she posted her $50,000 bail through the state and was released.

A Main Street man surrendered to Stratford police Saturday, Jan. 28, to face charges related to a Nov. 26, 2011, hit-and-run near the Hards Corner Tavern. Jayme Dias, 45, of 1789 Main Street, was arrested on two warrants. One charged him with evading responsibility and failure to avoid striking a pedestrian. The second charged him with second-degree assault and failure to keep narcotics in the original container.

A body found Friday in a Gwinnett County lake is that of a man accused of hitting an officer’s car earlier this month and driving away, police said. A neighbor whose home borders Lake Lucerne, near Lilburn, called police after seeing the man’s body near the lake’s surface, Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett police told the AJC. Investigators from the county’s medical examiner’s office confirmed the man’s identity as Javon K. Depass, of Snellville, Smith said.

A 24-year-old Saugus woman is facing charges in a 2010 hit-and-run accident that killed an 81-year-old man, and the evidence against her may include fragments of glass found in her car two years after the accident, authorities said today.

A Knoxville teen was arrested on multiple charges after police say she hit a six year-old boy who was crossing the street and drove off. Miriah Gillette was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident, No Driver’s License, No Insurance, and Reckless Driving.
According to the Knoxville Police Department, several children were returning to the Boys and Girls Club on McConnell Street around 1:15 p.m. on Monday.
Authorities believe Gillette decided to go around the kids rather than wait for them to finish crossing the street and clipped the child before fleeing the scene.

A hit-and-run suspect ran from police in handcuffs before being Tasered and arrested Sunday night, officials said. Salem police Lt. Jim Aguilar said officers responded to a hit-and-run call in the 2500 block of Laurel Avenue NE at about 9:25 p.m. While officers were investigating, the suspect, identified as Nicholas Huff, 28, returned to the crash scene, Aguilar said.

SHENANDOAH, Texas –– A Conroe man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the December hit-and-run of a Shenandoah police officer.
Joseph Charles Lynch, 30, of Conroe, was accused of using his ATV four-wheeler to run over Patrol Sergeant Raymond Shaw on Dec. 30, 2010. Lynch was riding his four-wheeler ATV in the early morning hours and began evading officers attempting to stop him.

INDIO, Calif. — A Palm Springs city employee was pepper-sprayed and roughed up by Desert Hot Springs police when they went to his house to investigate a hit-and-run collision, an attorney for the man said today.

That all changed the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 26.
“I was cooking. A lady knocked on my door and told me my husband was hit by a car and he looked like he was ‘dead,'” Ana Tejada, Rodriguez’s wife, recalled in a recent interview.
“When I went there he was lying there on the street … He was in very bad shape.”
Tejada found her husband lying in a large pool of blood; 50 feet from where he was struck, according to family members.
Rodriguez only remembers waking up three days later in a hospital bed at the Jersey City Medical Center.
