2211-12. Oxon Hill, Md. Jan. 7. 55-year-old man and 62-year-old woman killed when struck by grey sedan which fled.

2213. North Middleton Twp., Pa. Jan. 6. Man on bicycle injured when struck by a dirty older-model tan Pontiac Montana minivan which fled the scene.

2214. Syracuse, NY. Jan. 7. 22-year-old man riding a bicycle suffers minor injuries when he was struck by an black SUV which fled.

2215. Tulsa, Okla. Jan. 7. 51-year-old man riding a bicycle killed when struck by a car which fled. “A silver sedan was seen in the area, but police are unsure whether the vehicle is connected to the fatal wreck.”

2216. Evesham, NJ. Jan. 8. 16-year-old girl injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene. Confidential texts can be forwarded by texting keyword ETPDTIP to 847411 or via email at Facebook@eveshampd.org.

The scene outside the Joseph E. Coleman Northwest Regional Library in Germantown so resembled an action-movie set Tuesday afternoon that passersby gasped, asked how many people were dead and broke out cell-phone cameras for hours.

A mangled blue BMW 350i resembled a hunk of machinery as it sat behind a police car and amid yellow crime scene tape. One of its tires had flown across the street with shards of glass and pieces of its frame strewn for a half block.

A young child’s winter hat sat on the ground near the intersection while a Chicago Bears cap lay in the street along the path which witnesses reported its driver ran off around 1 p.m.

Jeremy McFarland nearly lost his faith in people after his 58-year-old mother was killed Tuesday near Wilmington by three motorists who ran her over and didn’t stop.

The unemployed 42-year-old’s faith was restored by week’s end, however, when strangers came to his aid, including a couple of men who paid the $250 rent for him and his two daughters to be able to stay at the Fairview Inn another week. The help was needed because his mother, Edith A. McFarland, was the one who paid the rent with her disability check.

Family and friends surrounded Nathaniel Callahan as he lay unconscious at Flagler Hospital on Friday afternoon, struggling to recover from life-threatening injuries he received in a hit-and-run accident on Old Moultrie Road before sunrise.

“The person who hit him has wounded a man who has five kids to support from the age of 11 to 10 months,” said his aunt Rhune’ Callahan. “We do want people to know that he is fighting dearly for his life.”

This week, Booker will be in a Cook County courtroom for the trial of Richard Bolling, a Chicago police officer charged with aggravated DUI and reckless homicide in the May 2009 death of Trenton, 13. Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday.

For the boy’s father, the trial represents some measure of closure after months of anger and grief that have come in unrelenting waves. Since his son’s death, he said, he’s become withdrawn and hasn’t had a good night’s sleep in years.

A driver struck and killed a Santa Rosa police dog and failed to stop, triggering a CHP hit-and-run investigation, police said Monday.

A Lakeville man is in critical condition after police say he crashed his truck trying to flee the scene of a hit and run accident Monday morning.

MOSCOW, ID – The Idaho State Police are asking the driver in a September hit and run crash to come forward so they can finish the investigation into the death of Joshwa Merriken. Idaho State Police is still searching for information and believes the 36 year old was struck and killed on September 30th as he walked along U.S Highway 95 near Moscow. His body was found October 15th.

A Milwaukee police officer critically injured in a hit-and-run crash on Christmas Day is up and walking. Milwaukee police reported Monday that Officer Frank Vrtochnick, 37, was out of bed and walking with the help of a walker over the weekend. Police said while progress is slow, Vrtochnick is improving every day.

A Colorado Springs driver accused of leaving a bicyclist to die after hitting him from behind and fleeing into the night last June admitted his guilt Monday — while also beating allegations he drove drunk.

Mark L. Doutt, 50, will serve an eight-year sentence after pleading guilty to leaving the scene of a crash involving a death in the June 25 hit-and-run death of William Byas Jr. on the city’s east side.

A Florida man kayaking in the Gulf of Mexico was surprised by a dog that swam up to him while he was fishing off Siesta Key. After posting his video on YouTube he learned the dog had ran away from the scene of a DUI accident in which the owner was killed.
