An ongoing collection of unsolved hit-and-run cases, with a focus on car/pedestrian incidents, from across the country since Jan. ‘010. If you know something about any of these incidents, or one that I’ve missed, do the right thing and call the police, even anonymously.

2564. Bay Ridge, NY. May 21. 33-year-old man struck and killed by a beige four-door sedan which fled the scene.

2565. Upper Dublin, Pa. May 19. 17-year-old male on bike struck by a newer model, black Nissan the driver of which stopped but took off when the bicyclist requested assistance.

2566. Virginia Beach, Va. May 20. Bicyclist injured when struck by a small red vehicle which fled the scene.

2567. Oshkosh, Wisc. May 22. 15-year-old boy injured when struck by a black GMC SUV which fled the scene.

2568. Topeka, Kansas. May 22. 13-year-old boy critically injured when struck by a van which fled the scene.

2569. Shreveport, La. May 23. Pedestrian injured when struck by a white four-door vehicle which fled the scene.

And I quote (I)…

Virginia Ramirez was on her way to 7 a.m. Mass at Mary Magdalene Church like she did every day when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver. Then the 79-year-old Pacoima grandmother was struck a second time by another vehicle, whose driver also took off.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles City Council approved a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the drivers in the fatal hit-and-run on March 17.

A Mexican native with an immigration hold remained jailed in Lubbock County late Monday, charged with attacking several people with a vehicle Sunday morning.

A Dallas woman called police this morning because she suspected her 48-year-old son was the motorist involved in a fatal hit-and-run in east Oak Cliff last night.

Investigators confirmed her suspicions and arrested convicted felon Daryl Wayne Sirls at the home he shared with his mother on outstanding warrants and a charge of felony failure to stop and render aid.

The mother, who did not provide her name, told DMN reporter Andrew Pantazi this afternoon that she did not want to discuss the case until she heard from her son.

“It’s been hard for this family, too,” she said.

ALBANY — A Bethlehem motorist charged with a deadly hit-and-run in Arbor Hill last winter was arraigned Wednesday on allegations he ignored a State Police stop, struck the victim, took off and lied to investigators.

Ian Eckardt-Rigberg, 19, faces 5 to 15 years in state prison if convicted of second-degree manslaughter.

And I quote (V)…

A careful review of surveillance video revealed not one but two different vehicles struck a man riding a bicycle on South Seneca on Saturday night, police said Wednesday.

The victim, 49-year-old John B. Fuqua, was killed in the collision, Lt. Joe Schroeder said. The first vehicle, a white four-door sedan, hit Fuqua from behind as he was riding north next to Aley Park, which is south of Harry.

The second vehicle, a light-colored low-profile SUV, ran over Fuqua about 20 seconds later as he lay in the curb lane of northbound Seneca, Schroeder said.

The SUV “slowed down almost to a stop and then continued on,” he said.

And I quote (VI)…

SALT LAKE CITY — Nearly a year after her death, police are still looking for the suspect who hit and killed a female bicyclist on 700 East in Salt Lake City.

Brynn Barton, 24, was hit by a car June 7 of last year while she was riding her bike on 700 East and 800 South. The driver took off and their identity remains a mystery.

And I quote (VII)…

Natasha Pettigrew, the Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate from Maryland at the time, was riding her bike at about 5 a.m. when she was struck and killed on September 19, 2010.

Christy Littleford, 41, the driver, claims she thought she hit a deer and that’s why she didn’t stop, but drove home.

Littleford called police four hours after hitting Pettigrew, apparently when she spotted a bicycle under her SUV.

When officers tracked down the van, which had damage to its front end, and Sheehan, “He said, ‘What did I hit?’” Baldwin said. “He later said that he thought he’d hit a tree and freaked out and went home.”

Today in court his attorney complained that his bond was too high for someone charged with failing to stop and render aid.

But prosecutor Abigail Gilsan argued that the case that left 40-year-old Rudy Garcia dead in the street was still under investigation and that they are looking at upgrading the charges against Alamo.

Gilsan says, “We are looking to see whether or not we can indict it as an intoxicated manslaughter case. Whether or not there is enough evidence to do that.”

But with no evidence in court, Judge Jack Hunter felt he had no other choice.

Antonio Alamo’s bond was reduced from $100,000 to $40,000, but under strict conditions.

The Tulsa County District Attorney’s office filed a charge of felony murder against a Creek County woman in connection with the February 13, 2012 death of a teacher at Marquette Catholic School in Tulsa.

Tulsa Police say 29-year Marquita Littlebear killed Susan Mamary, 60, in a hit and run crash near 51st Street and Hudson back in February. Mamary was a long-time teacher at Marquette Catholic School.
