2480. Madison, Wisc. April 24, 21-year-old man injured when struck by a “grayish” Toyota Camry which fled the scene.

2481. Huntsville, Ala. April 23. Unidentified man critically injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

2482-83. Springdale, Ark. April 24. Woman and four-year-old daughter injured when struck by a black four door Ford Explorer which fled the scene.

2484. Salt Lake City, Utah. April 25. 50-year-old man struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

2485. Rutherford, NJ. April 24. 44-year-old woman critically injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

2486-87. New Ipswich, NH. April 25. 24-year-old pushing a carriage carrying a 19-month-old girl injured when struck by a black vehicle with yellow stickers on the back which fled the scene.

A Lincoln woman is facing a harsher penalty in a deadly hit and run case because of a change in the law
Tuesday, 25-year-old Kinley Queen appeared in Lancaster County court.
She was originally facing up to five years in prison for leaving the scene of an injury accident, now that increases to a 20 year maximum, 15 years longer than originally thought.
Her charge was upgraded from a Class 3-A felony to a Class 3 felony.
The increased penalty stems from a law change that took effect January first of this year making it a more serious crime.

MONTCALM COUNTY, MI — A driver who hit a 20-year-old Sand Lake man walking along Stanton Road late Saturday, then failed to stop, told police he thought he hit a deer. The crash led to Tyler Helton’s death hours later.

And I quote (II)…

Attorneys Thursday afternoon debated the validity of a statement a friend of Joe Senser’s gave to investigators after the fatal crash that killed Anousone Phanthavong last August.

On the witness stand, Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Dan Beasley testified that he took a statement from Joe Senser’s friend and mentor, Dr. Rick Sponaugle, who lives in Florida. In a statement, Sponaugle allegedly said that Joe Senser told him he and Amy learned about the crash while they were watching the news. Amy Senser, who had been driving the Mercede-Benz SUV involved in the fatal crash, allegedly told her husband “I hit something last night where that guy was; I thought it was a construction cone.”

A Charles County man was arrested on Monday for a fatal hit and run crash from March 25, 2011. Maryland State Police say 25-year-old Justin A. Larkin of La Plata has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of a traffic crash resulting in bodily injury or death.
Drivers found the body of 57-year-old Darrell G. Sallie of La Plata in a ditch along Route 6 near Wheatley Road.

The man shot and killed by federal agents during an arrest attempt was accused of a Cobb County fatal hit-and-run in March, according to police.
Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Thomas Franklin Truitt was wanted for allegedly causing a March 21 wreck on I-75 northbound in Cobb County that killed a 59-year-old Kansas man.
Thomas Franklin Truitt, 37, was shot and killed late Thursday night in a Bartow County home while U.S. Marshals and local police officers were attempting to arrest him, Sgt. Jonathan Rogers with the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office said.
“During the attempt to arrest, shots were fired, and Truitt was shot and killed,” Rogers said in a news release.

MIAMI (WSVN) — The family of a 13-year-old killed in a hit and run crash has been left disappointed after a judge decided to reduce the bond of the alleged drunk driver who caused the accident.

Dozens of supporters of the Camacho family crowded into a courtroom Tuesday morning only to be let down when 38-year-old Sandor Guillen was granted a reduction in his bond of $1 million. With his hefty bail reduced to $205,000, he could now walk out of jail until his trial.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The victim of a Woonsocket hit-and-run accident was seized and brought to Superior Court Tuesday so a judge could verify the genuineness of a letter of forgiveness that the victim had written for the driver whose car struck her.

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) – A Long Island man has pleaded not guilty to charges he struck and killed a 24-year-old woman.

Preston Mimms of Mastic was charged with leaving the scene of the July 29, 2011, accident.

The victim, 24-year-old Erika Hughes – a single mother of a 15-month-old girl — was walking on Mastic Road in Mastic Beach just before midnight when she was struck, police said. The impact threw her body against a curb.

And I quote (VIII)…

BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — On April 2nd, Nathanial Williams’ life changed forever.

He was driving his motorized scooter home from work for lunch at 1:30 in the afternoon. When he hit the intersection of Mohican and Uncas, a car slammed into him. Williams remembers seeing a woman get out of the car and call 911, but then, he says she left him for dead.

“That’s showing no consideration for a human life, no consideration for your fellow man,” he says. “How can you hit a human being and drive off? I feel that’s one of the worst things that someone can do to a person.”

Three weeks later, Williams is confined to a wheelchair.

And I quote (IX)…

Fingerprints on a knife left at the scene of a hit-and-run crash last September recently led police to identify a suspect. Michael L. Bridges, who was released from prison last year for another hit-and-run crash, is accused of crashing a Chevrolet Malibu into a vehicle at the intersection of Wellesley Avenue and Belt Street Sept. 8. The other driver injured her arms, back and neck.

The Mattituck High School lacrosse coach was the man arrested for driving while intoxicated after striking and injuring a teen bicyclist with his vehicle late Friday night on the Peconic River bridge and fleeing the scene, according to Riverhead police.

Police said the collision took place in the southbound lane of the Route 105 bridge just after 10:30 p.m., injuring 16-year-old Juan Moreno of Flanders, who was found at the scene with injuries.

State police later found the driver, Timothy Corcoran of Babylon, 43, at the Riverside McDonald’s on Route 24. He was taken to Riverhead police headquarters and charged with drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident, police said. His vehicle was impounded.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Tabitha Stockdale of Shaler said tonight that she’s never get over the shock of losing her father in a hit-and-run accident last month.
