Hey Philly Media (And Police), Let’s Get Our City’s Geography Right, OK?

Quirky little story out of Philly today. Guy wears sunglasses and towel wrapped around his head in an effort to rob, at hint of a gun, a convenience store. Clerk says, paraphrased, pfft, I don’t see no weapon; whatever, bruh. Robber punches and bails without a cent.

Anyway, with video, that’s the type of story all us press folk gon’ jump at. I’ll show an excerpt of the account that the Fox affiliate with the very attractive traffic lady ran:

The red emphasis was mine. This, because 912 Walnut Street is nowhere near Wissahickon Park. See?

That’s about 12 miles.

And before you say anything yes, I know that came verbatim from a Philadelphia Police Press Release about said robbery, and I’m sure the Fox affiliate isn’t alone in their geographic laziness. That’s why we value a modicum of fact-checking over cut-and-paste journalism, yo.
