Alex Anzalone and his Wyomissing Spartans had just defeated David Williams and the Imhotep Panthers 35-13 in Philadelphia to advance to next weekend’s state championship game. It was a thumping, but both sides had great seasons. Anyway, I’m told Anzalone had apparently retweeted a story I wrote for WHYY to fire up his team (he did). He’s going to Notre Dame, for which I wished him luck post-game; he’s a beast, the Irish are lucky to have him heading their way.
Williams has not yet decided where he’ll go but after Saturday’s game, he said there are four schools in the running: Ohio State, Arizona State, U of South Carolina and U of Miami.
All the football-recruiting junkies with cameras and microphones thought that was a big deal, so I figured I’d share. Here’s a photo of them doing postgame interviews (which were less about their game and more about getting college-football-story hits, as best I could tell).
